Data and Technology Graduate Scheme

A career that will deliver change. Together, we can help Britain achieve net zero.

Join our Data and Technology Graduate programme and you can make an immediate impact, powering the nation today, whilst helping to build a sustainable energy future for tomorrow.

"Every day is a learning experience, everyone is very friendly and this creates a great working environment.”  Chris Willcock, Data & Tech Graduate

The Data and Technology Graduate Programme:

It’s a hugely exciting time to join EDF as we transition to a low carbon and Smart energy future.

We’re looking for graduates with a passion for using data, analytics, and software engineering skills, as well as influencing skills and commercial drive to solve complex problems.

Training, development and support for you:

On this 2 year Data & Technology Scheme you’ll participate in a curated programme designed to introduce you to a series of tools and techniques to develop you as a data scientist, data engineer or software engineer.

Right from the start, your work will have impact and contribute to helping Britain achieve net zero. For example, you might be part of the team that manages a tool called Energy Hub which uses Smart meter data to help residential customers understand their energy consumption. This gives customers the knowledge to make environmentally friendly choices like switching to low carbon heating.  Or you might build tools used 24/7 by our traders to forecast customer demand, dispatch our power stations, or optimise our trading strategies, all using real-time data.

During the course of this programme, you’ll learn industry leading technologies, platforms and concepts including:

  • Data Engineering / Science – Big Data, data lakes, Tableau, Python and data manipulation with Pandas, plus TensorFlow, Hadoop and Spark
  • Software Engineering – Full software delivery lifecycle; designing, building, testing, deploying and running cloud native applications using serverless technologies, using a range of languages including: JavaScript/Typescript, GoLang and Python.
  • DevOps – Cloud technologies and concepts, AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and build/test automation, operational alerting/monitoring and instrumentation.

At the end of the graduate programme we’ll support you in deciding how you want to progress your career within EDF.

Head to our Careers website for more information about the scheme and Graduate life at EDF.

Where you’ll work:

To get the most from our training during the programme you’ll be moving around our sites to experience our diverse business.  We’ll be on hand with practical and financial support when you relocate.  Locations could include Croydon, Hove and Exeter.

What you’ll need to apply:

  • 2:1 Bachelor’s Degree or a 2:2 Postgraduate Degree (obtained or expected) in any discipline, although STEM or other highly numerate degree preferred
  • A passion for data, manipulating and interrogating it to derive meaning and value
  • Strong interest in technology and staying abreast with the latest tools and techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and thrive in Agile work environments
  • Some programming experience would be an advantage

What salary and benefits are we offering you?

  • Starting salary of £30,000
  • 25 days’ annual leave
  • Market-leading pension scheme
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Flexible benefits package
  • Wellbeing and support services
