Are you a data science expert who loves to combine, visualise and analyse data from different source and develop compelling and actionable Insight stories? 

 

An opportunity has arisen within the Insight team, for a Senior Insight Analyst to lead and manage our team’s MI (Management Information) reporting requirements for the business. This includes leading improvements to some existing monthly reports including a monthly  service & reputation report, as well as initiating and leading a suite of reports which ‘brings to life’ our customer base using CACI socio-economic data variables. 

 

The Insight team’s key purpose is to provide actionable insight to help make more customer-led decisions and improve customer and commercial outcomes.

 

This role will be key to ensuring the Insight team’s reporting output looks and feels consistent for our senior leadership team.  take a 360 view of our organisations; markets, customers, competitors and megatrends; to promote greater ‘outside in’ thinking across EDF, to ensure opportunities are identified and developed at pace.

 

This role will provide critical, systematic insight on EDF's competitors, providing intelligence which will both inform decisions to drive growth and de-risk strategies. 

 

You will be an excellent Data Scientist/Data Analyst, with a desire to ‘bring to life’ the strategic  benefit of our data for a senior audiences, as well as collaborate with our colleagues in BlueLab Proposition Innovation, Corporate Strategy, Digital Operatiosn and CX. highly skilled desk researcher / analyst; with a flair for synthesising multiple secondary research data sources into succinct and well-designed reporting output for senior stakeholders. 

 

In addition to reporting, the role is accountable for delivering ad hoc competitor and market analysis, working alongside our primary researchers and analysts. 

 

This is a pivotal role within the Insight team, collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the business including; Customer Experience, Sales, Brand and Marketing, to maintain our competitive advantage in the energy market.  Which is  key to ensuring our team continues to take a 360 view of our organisations; markets, customers, competitors and megatrends; to promote greater ‘outside in’ thinking across EDF, to ensure opportunities are identified and developed at pace.

The Person

The successful candidate will: 

 

  •  Provide deep and systematic competitor intelligence (CI) desk research on competitors’ products, propositions, marketing communications strategies and customer journeys. 
  • To combine, visualise and analyse data from different source and develop a ‘suite’ of Insight performance reports.    
  • Regular, well-structured MI (Management Information) CI reports including; designing a new monthly Customer profile report, brand reputation and service performance and competitor intelligence summary; product side-by-side analysis, identifying and regularly keeping up-to-date points of difference, proposition analysis, marketing strategy and market share context. 
  • Assemble competitor intelligence across multiple data sources including; BEIS statistics, Ofgem data, Cornwall Insight, competitors’ websites, press releases, social listening tools (BrandWatch, Brand Total), Commetrix and Signal Media. 
  • Create compelling MI output; competitor intelligence guides, sales support tools and playbooks to support our go-to approach for acquisition and retention activity. 
  • Suammarise and ‘bring to life’ key headlines and executive summary action points fo senior leadership teams.     
  • Collaborate with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) across the business, including; Customer Experience, Sales, Brand and Marketing on more technical assessments of competitors. 
  • Support our primary researchers and collaborate with our analysts across ad hoc deeper dive insight projects, which require specific MI or reporting competitor intelligence requirements context. 
  • Partner with team members to deliver synthesised competitor intelligence, data analytics and primary research results, where required. 
  • Collaborate with team members to design our new Insight Knowledge Hub, including curated content spaces for key stakeholdes across the business including; EV market Insights, Heat, eStore and energy. create a quarterly portfolio of recommendations; to provide actionable insight to help make more customer-led decisions and improve customer and commercial outcomes.    
  • Make recommendations to enhance data quality, where required. 
  • Ensure competitor intelligenceMI output is timely, accurate, trustworthy and actionable, to drive decisions across the business.
     

The Skills

•    A commercially minded, self-starter with excellent deck creation and report writing skills. 

•    You will have aAt least 5 years of competitor intelligence / desk research in a data science experience either in a strategic planning, product or marketing environment. 

•    You’re a compelling storyteller who can communicate a succinct and actionable Insight to a variety of audience types, including senior managers, product designers, CX teams and marketing professionals.  
    
•    BA, BSc. or equivalent experience preferred. 

•    Tableau data visualisation skills
    
•    Knowledge of MDB, SAP, SQL, data extraction and transformation. 
    
•    Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
    
•    Significant experience of KPI development. 
    
•    Knowledge of data modelling.
    
•    Proven ability to analyse existing and new products, marketing activity, megatrends and translate this information into actionable intelligence in the form of succinct reports and toolkits.

•    Excellent presentation, oral and written communications skills.

•    Experience of working with quantitative research data beneficial. 
    
•    Demonstrated ability to work confidently in a matrix environment, across various business units.

•    Strong interpersonal skills and great team player. 

•    Strong knowledge of the energy market and industry data source is highly desirable.

•    Knowledge of Insight platforms also beneficial e.g. social listening tool (Brandwatch, Brand Total) and Commetrix.
