Wind Turbine Technician

The Opportunity

 

Wind Turbine Technician, Oakway Court, Meadowfield, Durham, DH7 8XD. Up to £38K depending on experience plus excellent benefits and allowances, along with on call payments. EDF Pension & up to 5% company bonus & 25 days holidays (and Bank Holidays). Interested?

 

EDF EN Services UK (“EENS UK”) is a 50/50 JV between EDF Energy (“EDF E”) and EDF EN Services (“EENS”) (together the “ Shareholders”).
EENS UK has the task of deliver safe renewable operations and maintenance (O&M) services in the UK.

  • EENS UK is responsible for the operation and maintenance of circa 470MW in 29 wind farms

The Wind Turbine Technician will report into the regional O&M Area Manager.  

You will be expected to deliver scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services to Nordex N series, Senvion, Vestas wind turbine projects in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.

The Person

Your daily activities will include, and you will be familiar with:

  • Maintaining the highest levels of safety to comply with all health and safety requirements including the WTSR.
  • Fault-finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on all turbine systems, which will include mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assemblies and major components.
  • Scheduled service in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Reporting and planning daily maintenance activity.
  • Coordinating local spare part and consumable stock.
  • Proactive repair or component replacement to prevent complete failure or system downtime.
  • Supervising specialist and subcontractor activity during main component exchange.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of safety to comply with all health and safety requirements including the WTSR.
  • Provide safety induction to contractors and visitors.
  • Providing out of hours and weekend response to turbine breakdown.
  • Ensuring the highest level of turbine availability.
The Skills
  • HNC in mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Qualification in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines to NVQ3 level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience)
  • Significant experience on wind turbines in a technician capacity. Knowledge of Senvion Nordex N series and Vestas wind turbine projects in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Siemens, Vestas MW machines and/or Nordex N series will be a plus
  • High level of physical fitness and good health
  • Previous accreditation as AT/AE under WTSR
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong safety minded person
  • Excellent analytical thinking
  • Strong sense of organisation and planning
