The opportunity
We’re recruiting for an Occupational Health Nurse/Technician to join our team at Hartlepool Power Station. As an Occupational Health Nurse/Technician, you’ll offer a focused driven mindset for all Occupational Health matters liaising with staff as appropriate.
Staff will range from new to legacy EDF employees also including line manager, and HR professionals, where you will provide comprehensive advice and guidance on statutory legislation affecting Occupational Heath for our EDF employees.
This role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, working 4 - 5 days a week on site at Hartlepool.

What you’ll be doing
As our next Occupational Health Nurse/Technician, you will offer a focused driven mind-set for all Occupational Health matters liaising with staff as appropriate. You will provide comprehensive advice and guidance on statutory legislation affecting Occupational Heath for our EDF employees.
Role and responsibilities also include:
- Undertaking a minimum set number of medicals or testing per day
- Conduct Health Surveillance, which may include spirometry, audiology, skin assessment, hand arm vibration and radiation worker medicals within the specified timings, service level agreement (SLA) requirements and operational requirements.
- Conduct Fitness for Work Medicals which may include vision testing, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, functional assessment within the specified timings, and SLA requirements and operational requirements.
- Conduct MyHealth First Assessments and employee wellbeing and health screening including general lifestyle advice within the specified timings, and SLA requirements.
- Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing, as a trained collection officer, within the specified timings, and SLA requirements
- Provide advice on mental health issues in the workplace and be aware of onward referral routes for additional assistance. Utilise the mental health indicator tools.
- Provide advice on Personal Protective Equipment to support health issues.
- Organise health promotion information and liaise with outside organisations as appropriate.
- Update and maintain accurate health records.
- Maintain medical confidentiality.
- Assist the Occupational Health Advisor in monitoring compliance with statutory requirements and collate relevant data, including monthly Key Performance Indicator’s, for the audit purposes.
- Provide support as required to the Occupational Health Advisor
- The Post Holder will form part of the station / site emergency first aid/response team.
Who you are:
To excel as an Occupational Health Nurse/Technician at EDF, we seek individuals who embody a strong foundation in healthcare. Previous occupational health experience is preferred but not essential.
Nursing/healthcare qualification preferred and/or relevant clinical experience.
All roles will require you to demonstrate your commitment to continuous professional development. Your expertise in medical confidentiality, ethics, and accountability will be essential in providing comprehensive and responsible care to our EDF employees.
