The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager for Teesside and Blyth Offshore Wind Farms or the Neart Na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Farm, with accountability for maintaining high standards in health and safety, environmental stewardship, and operational efficiency. You will manage day-to-day operations and driving the commercial success of these assets. Key responsibilities include planning and executing all operations and maintenance activities, ensuring effective commercial management, and collaborating closely with the OEM/O&M service provider and other essential contractors.
This role also requires close coordination with the broader Asset Operations team to meet all legal and company compliance standards. They lead the offshore O&M team, ensuring safe personnel access to the wind farms and secure release of Plant & Equipment in alignment with the Wind Turbine Safety Rules and Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules.

What you’ll be doing
You will lead, develop, motivate and manage the Offshore Wind O&M team to establish and inspire a high performing and motivated team, with an open and positive working environment, and a culture of collaboration and trust.
- Ensure operational compliance with the consent conditions, applicable laws and regulatory requirements associated with technical and commercial operations. Acting as the principal representative of EDF Renewables UK & Ireland (EDFR) and the Joint Venture Partners at the sites and managing interfaces within EDFR to deliver the Operations and Maintenance Agreements.
- Liaise with the wider Central Technical Office’s Offshore Technical Centre and Engineering teams for technical support in order to make robust operational and maintenance decisions.
- Implement HSE, Operational and Engineering procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and EDFR policy and ensure that all operational Safety Rules are adhered to.
- Ensure there is an effective H&S Plan for the sites and ensure roles and responsibilities for delivery of the plan are clear and suitably allocated.
- Plan and manage the O&M budgets (in-year and Medium-Term Plan) for planned and reactive maintenance activities, and ensure robust processes are in place and followed to monitor and control spend.
- Project management of Main Component Replacement campaigns and review and validate the short to medium term plans for all planned maintenance and overhauls programmes.
- Monitor the day-to-day transversal operations and identify/deliver operational improvements to deliver the optimum performance of the team.
- Develop and maintain close and strong relationships with contract partners and OEMs who contribute to the asset’s performance, ensuring a high-level of satisfaction in terms of safety, reporting, quality and integrity.
- Develop and implement a High Voltage System O&M strategy that is in line with existing fleet-wide approach to HV O&M by managing the provision of HV electrical system O&M services and internalising operations and then maintenance in alignment with EDFR’s HV internalisation plan.
- Manage the provision of peak hours monitoring and work control activities at site, 24/7 emergency cover, and coordination with the out-of-hours central control room.
- Through the wider team at site and Technical Support from the Asset Operations Field Services Team, provide a range of operations support including liaison with WTG OEM and the in-house technician team to ensure first line turbine maintenance support, turbine performance analysis, SCADA and OT/IS support, provide service and safety documentation, develop and implement specific longer-term O&M strategies. Work with others to ensure safe and efficient planning for major maintenance campaigns such as gearbox and generator exchanges.
- Manage the interfaces with the distribution network operator, EDF Energy forecasting processes and managing imbalance in the wider EDF context.
- Support EDFR Group’s offshore wind development and construction projects.
What do you need to be great at this role?
You will be a professional leader with a commitment to QHSE, with a good understanding of HSE legislation and standards. A safety qualification is required (IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum, NEBOSH desirable). Strong / proven experience in securing/maintaining a safe environment for all operations and maintenance in offshore wind or other power generation plant. Experience of establishing / managing internal and external relationships.
- Degree level qualification in engineering or other relevant discipline, or be able to demonstrate significant equivalent experience, with a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
- Proven experience in power plant operations & asset management and a track record of delivering high levels of performance and initiating business improvement activities. Preferable to also have strong knowledge of turbine/rotating plant maintenance and marine working practices as well as experience of overcoming challenges of working in an offshore wind turbine environment.
- Sound knowledge in the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules or equivalents.
- Strong experience of managing risks and issues of operating wind turbines/rotating plant.
- Experience of contract management and preparing/managing budgets.
- Experience of line management including setting objectives and managing performance.
- Strong understanding of the requirements for optimising the performance of a wind farm.
- Good understanding of renewable operations and the technical systems involved.
- Previous accreditation as AT/AE under WTSR, and/or authorised person under HVSR is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence.
