An exciting opportunity has become available for an Offshore Wind Farm Site Manager in the North East of England. Based from our site office onshore at Blyth or Teeside (to be confirmed), you will have responsibility for managing all site staff and activities in relation to operations and maintenance activities of the Offshore Wind Farm.

What you’ll be doing


You’ll report to the O&M Manager (England) and manage a team of Maintenance Technicians and support roles within the Windfarm in addition to;

 

  • Plan, lead and coordinate all O&M activities.
  • Own and coordinate the delivery of the Operations and Management Agreement (OMA) contractual obligations, delivering a high-quality service to the windfarm shareholders.
  • Optimise maintenance to improve lifetime asset performance and financial returns whilst also seeking to identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Responsible for the performance and health and safety targets for the assets associated with the Windfarm. Maintain and promote the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental standards, personally and within the site team.
  • Strict compliance of EDF Code of Ethics and practices.
  • Ensure all work is adequately assessed and implemented, as per EDFR safety rules (Wind Turbine Safety Rules and EDFR E&M safety rules) and all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • When required, provide first level technical assistance and support to maintenance activities within the O&M department (field support, special operations, work supervision, etc).
  • Manage the logistics and associated assets of O&M infrastructure (windfarm, substation, O&M building, etc). This includes, but is not limited to: personnel, tools, vehicles, vessels, spares, equipment, etc.
  • Ensure that quality assurance and control is embedded into all work tasks to ensure maintenance is delivered ‘right first time, every time’.
  • Project Management of non-routine works and main component replacement campaigns.
  • Proactive approach to ensure the highest level of turbine availability is maintained by devising and implementing the necessary maintenance / inspection strategies, through preventative and risk based maintenance techniques.
  • Analyse / determine and deliver personal and staff goals to ensure company and personnel objectives are met. Such areas will include the application of the Health and Safety policy and strategic business objectives.
  • When required, participate in the recruitment of O&M Technicians in compliance with relevant HR and recruitment policies.
  • Assess and plan the training of Technicians in conjunction with HR and HSEQ manager.
  • Mentor and support the development of Apprentice Service Technicians.
  • Represent when needed EDFR UK in all O&M meetings, tradeshows, conventions.

 

 

What do you need to be great at this role?
 

You’ll hold a qualification in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines to NVQ3 level/HNC/HND (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience).

 

  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of wind turbine assets.
  • Strong experience of managing Maintenance Technicians.
  • High level of physical fitness and health.
  • Current or previous accreditation as AT/AE under WTSR.
  • Ideally having completed offshore GWO training / certification.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Preferably Wind Operations and Maintenance management experience.
  • Proven experience in risk management, change management and people management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Comfortable working at height and in adverse weather conditions with occassional working offshore.
  • Strong safety minded person.
  • Excellent knowledge in the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and in industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules.
  • Excellent analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrate strong organisation and planning skills, with an ability to prioritise critical tasks.
  • A flexible approach to office based and field work situations.
  • Strong at managing and coaching people with an ability to communicate and pass on technical knowledge.
  • Strong management and supervision skills.
  • A proven track record of building successful relationships & cultures.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements for optimising the performance of windfarm assets and infrastructure, and of the key principles for developing an effective strategic lifecycle model.
  • Strong understanding of the UK renewables industry & operations.
  • French language is an advantage but not required.
