HAR Fire Safety Co-ordinator

The Opportunity

To provide EDF Energy locations with fire safety expertise on site to protect staff and plant from the risk of fire through prevention and event management, in line with legal compliance requirements.

The Person
  • Accountable to the Station Director via the Technical Safety Support Manager for verifying that all aspects of fire safety are addressed
  • Expected to manage part of the Quality Group Head’s Budget for fire safety improvements
  • Advise the EPE on training requirements for the fire teams as required from the fire risk assessment findings
  • Liaise with the Regulator and local Fire and Rescue Service
  • Act as a point of contact for WANO Peer Reviews, ONR Fire Inspections and Benchmarking inspections
  • To coordinate fire safety across all site departments
The Skills
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation relevant to Nuclear Power Station Operation, Site Licence requirements, fire safety legislation/policy and environmental policy
  • Knowledge of organisation and function of on-site and off- site services that support emergency activity, under both normal and abnormal conditions
  • Proficient in the use of AMS, in particular work management, action tracking, engineering change and controlled documents
  • Awareness of plant modification process and knowledge of nuclear safety case relating to fire safety
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Power Plant operations theory and risk
  • Knowledge of services on site (water, steam and electrical)
  • Station Plant On Site Training: Onsite training modules to support theoretical knowledge as defined in location training documentation, and applicable to the role.
  • Fire Safety diploma / equivalent training or HNC/HND in appropriate engineering or science discipline. Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (GIfireE or MIFireE) is also desirable.
  • Third party accreditation for completing area fire risk assessments.
  • One of plant operating, emergency service, maintenance or engineering is desirable.
