An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen at Hartlepool Power Station to join our highly skilled and motivated Engineering Department. We are seeking applications from those with Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering backgrounds.

 

As an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the System Health of the plant, developing short to long term improvement plans, outage scope and defining the maintenance policy on their assigned systems. You will also actively participate in the work planning process providing engineering technical input as required ensuring prioritisation of work is based on the criticality of equipment and its potential impact on plant performance.

  

In this role, you’ll carry out the following roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Be a system owner for Control and Instrumentation plant areas and act as the technical conscience for the assigned systems.
  • Provide engineering support for project activities to advance the health of Station Safety Controls, Electronic and Control System
  • Supporting real-time Process Control, PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Ensure critical equipment is identified and that correct preventative maintenance programmes are in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.
  • Manage activities that are to be carried out and completed with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and safety rules.
  • Perform Condition monitoring, performance trending, plant walk downs and System Health Reviews as required.

We’re offering a competitive salary & benefits in accordance with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification. You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, incremental and competency-based progression and a defined contributions pensions scheme.

Who you are

 

Our C&I Engineers will hold a HNC or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline. You’ll have a sound knowledge of principles and concepts, including the quality assurance measures which drive good software and Control and Instrumentation design in safety-related applications. Experience of working in the Nuclear industry or any other highly regulated environment would be advantageous although not essential.

 

Personally, you’ll be an inquisitive, proactive and motivated individual. You’ll not be afraid to challenge norms and be used to providing thorough explanations and advice, whilst being able to resolve complex technical challenges. Your interpersonal skills will naturally be exceptional with the ability to reach a wide audience with clear, concise messaging.
