Trading Graduate Programme

Trading Graduate Programme

At EDF UK success is personal. We don’t define it, you do. Join our Trading Graduate Programme and you’ll achieve your career goals in the way you want to. All while contributing to our mission to help Britain achieve Net Zero.

"In the Short Term Trading team we work towards the highest standards in everything we do. This includes how members are supported and valued. The development I’ve received over the past few years in the team has been incredible with more opportunities to learn happening every day" – Ellie, Shift Trader

What does this Trading opportunity offer you?

As a Wholesale Market Services (WMS) - Trading Graduate, you’ll be joining our Customers business unit, where we’re on a mission to help our customers save energy, reduce their bills and their carbon footprint.

On this 2-year programme you’ll learn from our experts, gain valuable experience, build your confidence, and develop your trading knowledge; helping you to decide where you’d like to specialise in the future for a career in and around Wholesale Market trading activities.

You will be responsible for managing the optimisation of the country’s largest portfolio of zero-carbon generation, with EDF’s ever-growing fleet of net-zero supporting Grid-scale batteries, wind & solar, as well as being the sole operator of the nation’s Nuclear generation.

The capacity for further personal development, both personally and from a skills & knowledge perspective, is also immense, as optimisation within the electricity trading market increasingly relies upon the right blend of automation, algorithms & human experience. Hence, you will also have the opportunity to influence the future development of the Team’s suite of operational & market analysis IT applications.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary of £35,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from electric vehicle leasing to gym membership, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, season ticket loans to enhanced parental leave.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our commitment is to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, people with a disability and colleagues from a disadvantaged background.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our team members drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. There’s no single definition — it's about individuality. That’s why we give you the freedom to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
