Structural Integrity Engineer

Gloucester Business Park. Hybrid, 2-3 days in the office per week.

Are you an experienced Mechanical or Materials Engineer with a background in Structural Integrity? Can you collaborate with diverse teams and influence key stakeholders? Are you looking for a role that is rewarding, and where you can make a difference?

If so, we have the role for you!

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Structural Integrity Engineer to join our Nuclear Services business.

EDF Nuclear Services is a specialist technical area, and we bring together technical capabilities to support our licensees, the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear new build projects as well as the existing operating power stations and decommissioning sites.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary from £62,000 (negotiable depending on experience) and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

In your role, you’ll be developing the Structural Integrity safety case for key components in nuclear new build projects across the UK.

You’ll provide technical leadership and advice to resolve issues during the design, manufacture, and commissioning stages, ensuring a robust safety case for the plant’s operation.

Reporting to the Integrity Group Leader, you'll guide the structural integrity of pressure equipment to align with safety case requirements.

Who you are

You should be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) in a subject relevant to Structural Integrity and are skilled at working autonomously, analysing complex, high-impact issues, and making recommendations that balance safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

You’re a collaborative problem-solver who can bring people together to find solutions. Confident in making decisions and leading technical meetings, you're able to manage multiple topics in a fast-paced project environment.

With significant experience in the nuclear or high-hazard industries, you have a strong background in authoring, reviewing, or acting as Case Officer for Structural Integrity safety cases.

You also have some knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, and pressure equipment regulations, with an understanding of their failure modes and associated risks.

Closing Date: 24th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
