Gloucester Business Park. Hybrid with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office per week.

The Opportunity…

 

We are looking for a Structural Assessment Engineer to join our Nuclear Services Business.

 

As a Structural Assessment Engineer, you’ll be part of Nuclear Services, a specialist technical area, bringing together technical capabilities to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear new build projects and the existing Nuclear Operations operating stations and decommissioning sites.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Assisting in the development of site-specific safety cases by providing specialist support and advice in the field of Structural Assessment.
  • Providing Structural Assessment advice and technical leadership during the design, manufacture and commissioning of New Build projects to support the construction phase of the New Build project, fulfil the Intelligent Customer role and resolve any emergent issues.
  • Reporting to the Integrity Group Leader within EDF’s Nuclear Services Structural Integrity Function.

 

Technical competencies...  

 

  • Good working knowledge of UK requirements for Structural Assessment within the nuclear industry or transferable experience from another high hazard industry in setting out Structural Assessment strategies.
  • Experience in some of the following specialist areas relating to the Structural Assessment of Metallic Components (Classical Stress Analysis, Design Code Assessments, Finite Element Analysis, fracture mechanics assessment methods)
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel and / or piping design codes, or the RCC-M or ASME III nuclear design codes.

 

 

Who you are...

 

You are someone who:

 

  • Works collaboratively and can bring people together to solve problems.
  • Is comfortable making decisions and leading technical meetings.
  • Is able to manage multiple topics simultaneously to support a dynamic project environment.
  • Has considerable industrial experience in the nuclear or a similar high-hazard environment.
  • Holds a relevant degree qualification or professional accreditation in a subject relevant to Structural Assessment or able to demonstrate commensurate experience.
  • Can work autonomously, analyse project-wide and high-impact issues, and make recommendations including considerations of safety, quality, cost and schedule.
