The Opportunity

 

We are currently looking to recruit Senior Manager to run our Issue Resolution business unit. This is an excellent opportunity to work within our Technical Client Organisation (TCO) to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project which is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations, HPC is both of high profile and high complexity.

 

As a Senior Manager running Issue Resolution you will be responsible for leading the team in solving large technical and project problems where the complexity of the solution, stakeholders involved and potential impact on the safety substantiation, design or construction of the HPC project is significant.  

 

This role will sit as part of the HPC licensee organisation within the boundary of the Technical Client Organisation. The Technical Client Organisation (TCO) provides excellence in water reactor and licensing skills while developing and managing high level skills to support any reactor technology. The operating model allows us to support multiple licensees with different shareholders giving the means for sharing expertise to provide the most effective safety related solutions. The TCO provides all the skills and capability to support construction and operation of Pressurised Water Reactors (PWRs) as well as the dedicated technical skills needed across any technology.
 

 

The Person


You will work closely with the Programmes and the Reactor Designer, and be responsible for:  


•    Lead as the interface with the HPC Engineering and Technical Client Organisation, Programme Management, Site and the Responsible Designer in the resolution of HPC transverse issues.
•    Lead, agree and deliver a resolution strategy with associated schedule.
•    Secure funding and resource to deliver solutions
•    Successfully deliver against the licensee work schedule
•    Use the agreed reporting approaches to communicate progress
•    Seek agreement to the closure of the issue with the relevant decision authority
•    Chair the Issue Resolution Board 
•    Complete the closure of issues with a lesson learned review
•    Sit as quorate in the Configuration Management Board (CMB), Technical Direction Committee (TDC), and associated HPC Steering Committees
 

The Skills


•    Experience within the nuclear industry/ safety critical environment/UK regulatory environment
•    Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline
•    Experience in managing complex contract management arrangements
•    The ability to challenge and create innovative, first of a kind, industry standard setting solutions within a safety case envelope therefore experience in working with Safety Cases is essential
•    Proven track record of senior leadership (to include budgetary and staffing responsibilities)
•    Demonstrable experience of delivering successful projects and programmes
•    Knowledge of budget monitoring and commercial awareness, commensurate with this senior position
•    The ability to create culture and behavioural changes associated with implementing new ways of working, standards and/or innovations, including external regulators
•    High levels of political, commercial and strategic awareness and evidence of proactively building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
•    Demonstrable high level of business acumen and strategic/big picture thinker with a forward-thinking approach and a focus on value and risk
•    Strong track record of building personal trust and operating with integrity and credibility
•    Exceptional communication skills with an ability to communicate and convey complex information simply at all levels
•    Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills
