The Opportunity

 

Our Technical Client Organisation (TCO) is EDF’s centre of technical and licensing excellence supporting the new, future and existing fleet of nuclear power stations. Over time, the TCO will help develop and maintain our technical capacity and expertise across the full lifecycle of UK nuclear activity: from new build through to operation and into decommissioning. 


We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join the TCO, working on contracts related to lifting, handling and fuel storage equipment. 
 

The Role

 

You’ll act as the lead engineer managing technical review and acceptance of engineering documentation, and providing technical support to ensure a safe, constructible and fit for purpose design is delivered. 


Specifically, you’ll take responsibility for:

 

  • Maintaining oversight of safety case requirements 
  • Providing solutions to technical issues relating to equipment
  • Ensuring that plant/systems satisfy design requirements and relevant codes and standards
  • Resolving open points raised on the systems through the full plant life cycle from design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning, and operation
  • Providing technical input into the management of risks and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

 

The Skills

 

To be successful in this role you’ll be able to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Degree or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the principles of safety case 
  • Experience in writing and maintain safety case documentation
  • Experience of contractual aspects of a project environment


Desirable:

 

  • Understanding of nuclear power station design
  • Knowledge of PWR or EPR
