HR Industrial Placement

At EDF UK success is personal. We don’t define it, you do. Join our HR Industrial Placement and you’ll achieve your career goals in the way you want to. All while contributing to our mission to help Britain achieve Net Zero.

Ready to kickstart your career in HR? Join EDF's 12-month HR Programme, where you'll gain hands-on experience and develop a wide array of HR skills, from strategic operations to leading high-impact projects that drive real results.

What does this HR opportunity offer you?

We’re recruiting for students to join our HR Placement Programme within Nuclear Services.

The TSO is a newly created centre of expertise, designed to help EDF maintain and develop our unique nuclear capability, as some of our existing power stations move into decommissioning, whilst our Nuclear New Build projects progress towards generating energy.

You’ll be working in a progressive HR team, and you’ll be supporting them to lead on key HR projects, such as our Employee Value Proposition.

You’ll be involved in creating positive change programmes to support our ambition to build a resilient workforce and retain our top talent.

You’ll take part in HR activities such as annual appraisals, remuneration reviews, coaching leaders, and championing JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) and Wellbeing initiatives.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary of £23,250 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

At EDF, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our commitment is to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, people with a disability and colleagues from a disadvantaged background.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our team members drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. There’s no single definition — it's about individuality. That’s why we give you the freedom to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

Training, development, and support for you

Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You’ll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Gain insight on how our shared services programme works and be involved with the continuous improvement of systems and streamlining queries.
  • Work on continuous improvement projects.
  • Study our framework and processes and look for constant ways to improve these.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your commercial, problem solving and people skills, whilst gaining broad exposure to our business.

The transferable skills and experience that you’ll gain during this placement; in system/tool usage, teamwork, collaboration, customer service, and commercial thinking, will set you up for a successful career and you’ll build a great network of stakeholders, should you apply to EDF after your graduation.

We’re here to support you throughout the process and you’ll find helpful tips and advice here: https://www.edfenergy.com/careers/early-careers
