Finance Business Partner

 

The Finance Business Partners will take the reins of their Business Partnering relationships with several Directors or Heads of Function. You'll bring both challenge and support to the table, tackling cost control, securing new or extra funding, tightening financial controls, developing the Medium-Term Plan (MTP), and crafting budgets with flair.

This role is based in our main office: Gloucester Business Park with hybrid working. However, we do offer flexible working and would welcome applications located throughout the UK, with contractual locations located within one of our Nuclear plants or Offices near you. This role will be predominately remote working, but you may be required on site for in person meetings during senior stakeholder discussions.

As our Finance Business Partner, you'll be the go-to expert for explaining the department's financial performance to Directors and Heads of Function. You'll identify key areas of underperformance or concern, kickstart corrective actions, and collaborate with main stakeholders to align with corporate objectives.

 

You'll build and maintain stellar relationships with Senior Leaders and their teams, working across the entire business spectrum. Your mission? To promote a culture of value enhancement, cost consciousness, and accountability.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.

What you’ll be doing

 

As a Financial Business Partner, you'll support the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) and set ambitious targets. You'll guide the Central Directorate's strategic plan and work with Directors and Heads of Functions to prepare the MTP annually.

You'll produce monthly reports, highlight financial variances, and lead Financial Review meetings to tackle risks and opportunities. Ensuring strong governance, you'll review investment appraisals and manage financial performance, promoting cost consciousness and accountability.

Your coaching will help the business interpret financial reports, and you'll influence senior leaders' commercial behaviour. You'll define financial KPIs, deliver Commercial Awareness sessions, and lead initiatives to drive value.

 

In this role, you'll oversee Directorates within Nuclear Operations, managing a cost base of £300m - £500m, an FTE of around 800, and an annual investment program of about £50m.

 

Who you are

 

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a recognized UK professional body (e.g., ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA) and have substantial experience as a Business Partner. They should excel in managing relationships, providing both support and challenge to enhance business performance.

 

High levels of confidence, credibility, professionalism, and integrity are essential, along with a proven ability to work closely with non-Finance senior management. The role demands high energy, resilience, and strong decision-making, numerical, and analytical skills.

We’re looking for someone with experience and proven delivery in managing data in a highly regulated environment, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across the whole organisation with strong influencing skills.
