The Opportunity


We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Nuclear Services Business at EDF. Nuclear Services is our technical centre of excellence, supporting our existing fleet of nuclear power stations and our nuclear new build projects like Hinkley Point C (HPC).


As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll contribute to some of the most critical projects in the nuclear industry, working on electrical designs, safety cases, and engineering solutions that ensure the safety, security, and efficiency of nuclear power stations.

 

From concept design to regulatory meetings, your expertise will make a tangible impact on the future of energy.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Producing engineering reports, safety cases, and technical specifications to support the operation and safety of nuclear power stations.
  • Preparing and verifying safety case submissions and documents.
  • Participating in regulatory meetings with the Office for Nuclear Regulation, contributing to discussions on key technical issues.
  • Reviewing designs and technical reports, ensuring alignment with performance, safety, and security requirements.
  • Supporting the procurement process, evaluating bids, and engaging with suppliers on technical matters.
  • Preparing and analysing design calculations for electrical systems, including load, fault levels, and voltage drop.
  • Collaborating with project teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and safe engineering solutions. 

 

 

Who you are…

 
You’re a skilled electrical engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges and delivering impactful results. Your expertise includes:

 

  • Writing technical reports, safety cases, and engineering specifications.
  • Designing and evaluating electrical systems, including power transformers, HV/LV cables, Variable Speed Drives, and Uninterrupted Power Supplies.
  • Preparing design calculations, commissioning test plans, and functional test schedules.
  • Analysing power system protection and generator control systems.
  • Working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with regulators and supply chains.

 

You bring strong technical skills, the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, and a commitment to achieving operational excellence in high-hazard industries.
