Do you want to support the development of a new modern standard safety case for the first new build UK Nuclear Power Station in decades? Then come and join our expanding Hinkley Point C (HPC) team. Be a part of one of the world’s largest and most exciting projects, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. When completed HPC will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes over 60 years which, along with renewables, will drive Britain towards achieving Net Zero by 2050.

The Hinkley Point C Design Authority is recruiting for a Design Substantiation Engineer. As part of the licensee organisation, the Design Authority is responsible for developing the nuclear safety case and maintaining its integrity throughout the full lifecycle of the nuclear power plant. 

You will play an important role in demonstrating design substantiation to support the development and maintenance of the safety case for HPC. You will provide technical guidance to resolve challenging issues to support the construction, commissioning, and the safe operation of the Nuclear Power Plant. 
 

You will also have opportunities to gain experience and work in a variety of different aspects of the safety case from developing the main Safety Report through to safety justification to support design modifications. In your role you will be supported by and will need to engage with a variety of disciplines within the wider organisation (Nuclear Analysis, PWR Technology, Construction, Commissioning and Operations), while also working with OEM designers/suppliers and internal/external regulators.

What you’ll be doing…

•    You will work closely with all levels of the organisation to develop the strategy for 
     delivering solutions. 
•    Provide technical guidance to resolve challenging issues to support the construction, 
     commissioning, and the safe operation of the Nuclear Power Plant. 
•    You will have opportunities to gain experience and work in a variety of different aspects 
     of the safety case from developing the main Safety Report through to safety justification 
     to support design modifications.
•    You will engage with a variety of disciplines within the wider organisation (Nuclear Analysis, 
     PWR Technology, Construction, Commissioning and Operations), while also working with OEM

    designers/suppliers and internal/external regulators. 
•    Proactively communicate with other site teams, stakeholders and maintain good communication links.
