The Opportunity…
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a CDM Advisor to join the Engineering Function of our Nuclear Services Business. From helping design and build new power stations, to supporting EDF’s existing fleet operations through to defueling, EDF Nuclear Services is a technical centre of excellence and a critical component of the UK nuclear industry.
The Design Safety & Compliance team are a dedicated group of CDM Advisors, and the team provide expertise on UK conventional safety requirements and regulations for EDF’s nuclear business, which includes Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC)- two of the largest and most exciting construction projects in Europe.

What you’ll be doing…
Your role will involve:
- Overseeing management of health & safety hazards and mitigations.
- Promoting relevant good practice and ensuring all activities comply with the CDM Regulations 2015.
- Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders (including overseas designers), to help plan and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase.
- Attending meetings with our project managers and engineers, offering advice on risk.
- Staying up to date with relevant legislation and wider learning from other industries.
- Being the safety conscience of the Principal Designer; working alongside other duty holders as required.
Who you are…
Your background may include some of the following:
- A good understanding of risk management and hazard identification processes.
- Experience of applying CDM in a large project environment.
- Experience of working in a highly regulated industry.
- Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation relevant to the construction industry.
- The ability to bring diverse perspectives of health & safety culture and practice from a previous role.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and able to foster and develop relationships with stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.
- A flexible and versatile ‘can do’ approach, and be unafraid to think outside the box.
- A positive attitude, work ethic and enthusiasm to learn, that will set you apart from others.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
