The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Nuclear Operations IT Service Team and play a vital role in advancing our technology landscape. In this multifaceted position, you'll oversee seamless operations across both on-premises and cloud platforms, bringing innovative, collaborative, and strategic thinking to the forefront.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-impact team. While experience in Nuclear Operations is beneficial, we welcome candidates from any background that values high-level security, strict procedural adherence, and exceptional quality standards.

Pay, benefits and culture
The salary range associated with this role is between £54,391 - £71,779 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

What you’ll be doing
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll manage and enhance our hybrid/cloud infrastructure. Key areas include:
- Cloud Management (Azure): Configure, monitor, and optimize Azure platforms, ensuring secure access via IAM.
- System Administration: Administer Windows/Linux systems and implement automation for efficiency.
- Innovation: Identify improvements to boost scalability, security, and reliability, staying current with emerging cloud practices.
- Security & Compliance: Align platforms with security policies, collaborating on best practices like encryption and key management.
- Collaboration & Support: Support CI/CD pipeline maintenance with DevOps and troubleshoot cloud/system issues.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with a strong background in managing hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. They bring technical expertise in Azure cloud technologies, security protocols, and automation tools such as Terraform, Azure CLI, and PowerShell. With a strategic mindset, they can develop long-term platform strategies that effectively balance legacy systems with modern cloud solutions. They are a skilled problem solver, able to identify challenges and implement innovative solutions. Preferred qualifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, with additional certifications in Windows or Linux administration as a plus.
