The Opportunity

Working in EDF’s Customers business you’ll be contributing to Helping Britain Achieve Net Zero and help us become a leading player in each of the four markets we operate in – Wholesale, Residential and SME, I&C and Field Services. We strive to create great Customer and Employee Experiences building a best in class reputation within the markets we operate and are continuously looking to add value.  We act with efficiency and resilience in a very competitive and ever evolving market.

The PPA & Sustainability Solutions team (part of I&C) is a high performing team that is now the largest PPA offtaker in the UK and is pushing the boundaries in terms of new innovations. The team focuses on buying renewable energy and associated certificates from a broad range of low carbon assets across the UK, through three separate routes:

1.    Traditional PPA - standard offtake focused primarily on subsidised assets within a 5 year horizon.
2.    Large Developer offtake – bespoke product offerings focused on long term, large scale offtake.
3.    Corporate PPAs – delivering physical, virtual and private wire energy supply to corporate clients.

You’ll work across all three areas seeking opportunities, structuring agreements, gaining internal buy in and leading on commercial negotiations with clients. Working collaboratively with other parts of EDF, you’ll bring the best of our skills and knowledge to our clients. You’ll support more junior colleagues to deliver business objectives and their own personal development and will help define the strategic direction of the business, maximising long term value creation at acceptable risk levels.

Working closely with the Product Development and Marketing teams, you’ll ensure that the PPA business is supported with the right products, communications and events. Reviewing the existing portfolio with an eye on continuous improvement, you’ll create value and maximise return and you’ll develop and maintain strong market presence, engaging with key players in the UK Renewables market.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you can be based anywhere in the UK as long as you’re able to travel to collaborate with your team and stakeholders as and when required. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role and Skills

You must have a can-do attitude, be a genuine team player and be passionate about the role you play in the wider team. You will have a demonstrable portfolio of evidence for delivering results against ambitious targets through the building and maintenance of effective relationships.

You must be customer centric and action orientated ensuring that you always provide an excellent customer experience. You’ll know your numbers and will ensure that you act with integrity and exceptional commercial acumen. Having a detailed understanding of low carbon markets and instruments (ROC, REGO, GoO) and the accompanying legal and regulatory requirements is a clear advantage.

You will be a confident negotiator and competent structurer who is able to identify risks and opportunities as well as devise appropriate terms collaboratively with our legal team.

You’ll be able to spot opportunities for growth, will have the ability to identify new business prospects and relationships utilising a diverse range of techniques. You’ll be confident working across a broad spectrum of both internal and external stakeholders, adapting your style and content of communications to suit. You’ll be understanding of the commercial benefits of Net Zero – sustainability, environmental care and energy efficiency.

If this all sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you! We also have a full job description available upon application.
