Contract type: 12 month fixed term contract
Working hours: Full time/part time/job share
Location: Hinkley Point C with flexibility
Salary: Competitive plus excellent benefits
Closing date: 31.10.2021

The Opportunity

As an Internal Communications Consultant, you’ll deliver internal communications for the Hinkley Point C project, following a strategy across a range of channels, ensuring effective links and alignment across the project, EDF Energy, EDF Group, contractor partners and suppliers. Your role is critical that inspires, informs, engages and enthuses all those working on the project so that they work as one team, with shared values and goals, so that the project is completed safely, on time and budget and with high quality.

You’ll represent the NNB Communications team on Project Teams and Company-wide forums, keeping Senior Management informed of plans on a regular basis. As part of a small internal communications team delivering a wide range of activities – and part of a wider HPC communications team, you must be able to work flexibly, meeting changing and challenging demands. You’ll interact on a daily basis with management and will independently use your initiative whilst building relationships across a complex business with multiple stakeholders.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly and we provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively. Immy Silby, Internal Communications Senior Consultant, says “I’ve got the flexibility to work from different office locations as well as from home. This allows me to have a good work/life balance and helps me to make time for the things which are important to me.”

The Role and Skills

You’ll develop and implement the communications strategy and plans for key change projects and other business initiatives, ensuring that changes are communicated effectively to colleagues and to maintain employee confidence in business and decisions. Acting as an advisor, you’ll stay abreast of what’s happening in order to identify and put in place the appropriate communication strategies and plans that enable the successful embedding and communication of change.

Using your excellent knowledge and skills, you will recognise and segment different stakeholders and match to appropriate channels of communication. Using your strong persuasion skills, you’ll influence and obtain buy-in to communication plan proposals that meet business objectives and ensure effective communications to all staff.

A key part of this role will be the project and event management of the prestigious annual Excellence Awards programme which plays a central role in inspiring and engaging our collective HPC Team. Another substantial element of this role is recognising what makes our people tick and what they need. Using your strong analytical skills, you will run our engagement programme and the analysis drawing out the key findings including presentations to the Executive board.

If you have strong experience of preparing written communication materials then we’d love to hear from you! We have a full job description available and you can request this at application stage if you would like to view it.
