Location: We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration once a week at our London office.

Join EDF as a Finance Data Labs Developer, where you will support the development and maintenance of financial reporting and analytics systems in collaboration with the Finance Data Labs Manager.

Taking ownership of individual modules that fit into a wider systems framework, working with stakeholders to design, and deliver a software engineering solution.

The opportunity…

You will be working with other analysts across the Finance community to gather business knowledge and understanding to design the build solution. Supporting less technical analysts in the Finance Community where their ad hoc work goes beyond the data limitations of conventional tools (i.e. Excel).

Back end development; responsible for collating data, data analysis and computations to implement business logic. Front end development; developing Graphic User Interphase (GUI) tools that ease access to data, enable dynamic analysis, and provide reporting solutions.

Developing/expanding database solutions to store and enable access to processed data, this involves designing new database tables and table optimising indexes. Delivering in-house developed data and IT solutions under a DevOps framework which are significantly faster and more affordable than legacy waterfall IT projects by several orders of magnitude.


What we’re looking for…

You will have extensive coding/programming experience focused on reporting, analysis, and data visualisation in a professional/corporate environment. You will ideally hold a degree or Masters in a quantitative discipline (i.e. Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Engineering), or Professional finance/ quantitative qualification (i.e. CIMA, ACCA, AAT, CFA), or professional experience that demonstrates a computational/numerical mindset.
 

Possessing the ability to take ownership of a task or a development module and deliver a solution without the need for extensive oversight. Good communication skills, ability to communicate and discuss technical subjects with technical colleagues as well as being able to zoom out and abstract for a less technical audience. Despite operating in a highly complicated data environment, the underlying ethos of the team is to keep it simple and get it done. 

You will have proficiency with the below tech stack: 

  • GitHub - competent
  • SQL – proficient
  • Reactive programming (i.e. Shiny, React JS, Dash)
  • R and/or Python - proficient
  • Proficient in R and/or Python, focused on data analysis and visualisation with libraries such as:
    • Tidyverse (i.e. dplyr, dbplyr, ggplot2)
    • Shiny
    • R Markdown / Quarto
    • Plotly
    • Pandas
    • Numpy

Desirable:

  • SQL/Relational Databases (i.e. Postgres, Oracle)
  • Linux
  • AWS
  • IAC (i.e. Terraform)
  • MS Access
  • Knowledge of UK Energy Markets
  • Experience in Market and/or Credit Risk analysis
  • Experience using statistical analysis (i.e. regression, classification, machine learning).
