The Opportunity

As a Gross Margin System Support Analyst, you will request the delivery of the monthly input files and ensure that the data is provided on time, chasing any late data, running existing checks on the input files and developing new checks for newly identified issues and risks.

You’ll be responsible for the running of manual adjustment batches, maintaining the database to ensure that required data is not dropped and taking any questions from stakeholders on their numbers, which may result in detailed code investigations and data checks. You must be able to explain succinctly how the calculations are working and how the system interrogates and manipulates data from the database.

A large portion of the work involves checking for data issues and investigating the causes of unexpected variances, this can be complex due to the complexities of the system and the calculations.

There is also an exciting opportunity to take on development activities, which involve systems analysis, stakeholder management, systems design, developing the changes and testing.

Through logical problem solving and creativity, you will design and develop your own changes, once the design is signed off by key stakeholders. You will ensure that stakeholders, including managers, are fully informed of how the developments are progressing and how you are testing the changes.

The Role and Skills

Gross Margin is a complex area of Customers Finance. The energy industry has numerous energy and non-energy costs, which all have different calculation methods. EDF’s portfolio has multiple markets and multiple charging structures for revenue for different commodities.

In addition to this, volumes and costs are not settled until many months beyond the consumption of the energy. This complexity needs to be mirrored in the calculations behind gross margin. Our system will perform calculations and provide data and reporting output to a group of analysts.  Finance Systems and Analytics are responsible for managing, running, developing and maintaining this system.

Being a Gross Margin System Support Analyst means that you will be a natural problem solver with excellent attention to detail whilst having the ability to learn complex processes quickly, following agreed development principles.

We’re looking for someone who can understand database management principles along with stakeholder management. Experience in SQL is essential, preferably Snowflake SQL.
