Financial Reporting Senior Analyst (Consolidation)

Financial Reporting Senior Analyst (Consolidation)

Are you looking for a role where you can deliver insight and develop as part of a great team? Come and join us as a Senior Analyst in the EDF Customers Financial Reporting team.

It’s a very exciting time to join one of the nation’s leading energy suppliers, in an Industry that is undergoing change due to the Energy crisis, you will get to see the impacts this has on consumers, businesses and energy suppliers – and how energy suppliers are working alongside the government to adapt in these challenging times for our customers.

The financial reporting team puts you at the heart of the Finance function, providing you with a bird’s eye view of financial performance in each area of the business. Your contributions in providing reliable and consistent numbers and guiding the finance function through its forecasting cycles will be highly valued by our Finance director Simon Todd.

The Customers Business Reporting team are a small, collaborative team of 4 working together (often remotely) to produce both internal and external financial reporting.  I am seeking a diverse blended team of professionals from different backgrounds who can complement and support each other.  As such we will rotate activities around the team to build resilience and keep the job interesting for you.

We work within the Financial Control & Risk function whose role is to communicate financial performance (our team), forecast cash, maintain balance sheet financial controls, perform credit risk assessments and mitigate and respond to fraud.  Our reporting team work alongside the business partnering teams to gain understanding - including the Gross Margin team, Wholesale Market Optimisation team, the Cost team and the Corporate Reporting team.  It can be a good place to start out in EDF as you will make contacts and get exposure to the wider finance teams, putting you in a good position to pursue equally exciting opportunities in the future.

Pay, benefits and culture...

In addition to a competitive salary we offer a market-leading company pension scheme, paid holidays with ability to buy additional holiday and a range of flexible benefits, such as: a company incentive bonus plan, health cover, cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle scheme, gym membership, discounts and employee pricing.

We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We’re committed to equality, diversity, inclusion.  We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re an equal opportunity and disability confident employer. If you feel comfortable sharing with us that you have a disability, you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will guarantee you an interview.

We’ll value the difference you bring and give you opportunities to thrive and succeed and to feel you belong.

The opportunity…

You will be responsible for producing financial reporting packs covering monthly performance, forecasts and budgets. These are reviewed by the Customers Executive team, and the UK CEO and CFO - so attention to detail is important! Needing good business awareness to provide insight, sense checking and interpreting the data. To predict stakeholder questions, areas of interest and requirements, ensuring that commentary is supported by analysis (from the business teams) to underpin what is presented, and that the story and messages are consistent throughout.

You will be responsible for setting the Month End and Forecast timetable for Customers finance, delivery of activities and reports ‘on time in full’ by ensuring other stakeholders deliver on time and to the quality required. Plan tasks in a joined-up way being aware of dependencies between teams and systems, working with the teams to agree deadlines are feasible, and being able to quickly adapt timelines when required.

The month end process will include some consolidation activities to report up to Group – posting of journals, ensuring that balance sheet movements are consistent with P&L or Cash movements and talking through the monthly financial results with the UK corporate reporting team. We also provide a balanced scorecard, volumetric data and several other separate submissions for the corporate reporting team.

The role includes some generation of ad-hoc reports to support the other finance teams, although we are eager to find ways to stop, simplify, or offshore wherever possible.  This could include working with our system developers to design a new report or improve an existing report or process.  The Anaplan tool is used for reporting and forecasting our financial statements (P&L, B/S and Cashflow) so it is important that you are comfortable picking up new systems.

What we’re looking for…

You will be analytical with the ability to assimilate information quickly and interpret the “so what”. Sometimes we don’t have all the data or imperfect systems, so you will be pragmatic, resilient, curious, and open to a bit of challenge. You will be able to work both independently and part of a collaborative team.

We’re looking for someone who has the following attributes:

  • Finance Reporting and Consolidations experience
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Diligence, enthusiasm and resilience to work through issues
  • Delivery ‘on time in full’ mindset
  • Curiosity about what drives our team’s performance and how we can improve
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and collaboratively to identify problems and solve them
  • Confidence to work with imperfect systems and data
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the UK energy market and a commercial understanding of external factors would be desirable, as well as experience of a highly seasonal, mass market business
  • Ideally you will have a finance qualification or relevant finance experience

If you think you have most of what we are looking for but not everything, please go ahead and hit apply. We’d still love to hear from you.
