The Opportunity

EDF Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analysis Developer. You will work alongside the Customers Finance Gross Margin team supporting, maintaining, and developing the Gross Margin Analytics Platform (GMAP).  You will sit at the heart of all Gross Margin Reporting and Forecasting, ensuring that the right information is provided to support key decisions impacting gross margin. 

On a day-to-day basis the role will include responsibilities across business analysis and system operations support but also developing the BI platform. This might include: 


  • Involvement in the development and design of new system modules, through working collaboratively with the team and the wider business.
  • Understanding complex data flows and calculations and interrogating the database to extract data and meaningful insight.
  • Working on improving calculations, system efficiency and reducing data quality issues. 
  • Using Alteryx, SQL and Tableau alongside other close based tools.
  • Operating in a cloud (AWS) environment 
  • Following and exercising strong governance, change and security processes.

The Role and The Skills

What do we need from you? 

We are looking for someone with an eagerness to learn and a strong sense of curiosity, excellent verbal and written communication skills and resilience to challenge and change. 

You must have: 

  • Experience with Data, calculation modelling
  • Strong Data Interrogation/Manipulation Skills
  • Intermediate level of SQL
  • Basic understanding of AWS/cloud   
  • Basic to intermediate experience on a BI tool
  • Experience with Snowflake, Alteryx and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI (this can be learned in-role so not essential

If you have passion for problem solving, data, and technology, coupled with an interest in gaining business insight and in-depth knowledge of the Energy Industry, we’d love to speak to you.  


Establishing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships across business units is a key feature of the role alongside the ability to work to a consistently high level both independently and as part of a team. Equally, experience of working with imperfect systems and data and a drive for improvement would be advantageous.
