System Engineer

The Opportunity


As our next System Engineer, you will be responsible for the equipment reliability of station electrical systems. This is to ensure that equipment is maintained, and performance requirements are monitored, maintained and improved as required through maintenance and investment work carried out by yourself and the wider EDF team.

The Role


As our next System Engineer, your roles and responsibilities also include:


  • Ensure critical equipment is identified and that correct preventative maintenance programmes are in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.
  • Responsible for the System Health reviews, developing short to long term improvement plans and defining Maintenance Policy.
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance using feedback from Operations and Maintenance and by conducting regular Plant Walk downs of assigned systems. 
  • Where plant issues are identified provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshooting activities and ensure robust corrective actions are in place
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to agreed Safety Standards. Maintain knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Actively participate in the work planning process providing engineering technical input as required ensuring prioritisation of work is based on the criticality of equipment.

The Skills


To be suitable for the role, at a minimum, you will have a relevant electrical engineering qualification such as an HNC level or equivalent. We’re also looking for you to have a strong ability to build relationships, strong communication skills and are driven with a self-motivated, can-do attitude.


It would be desirable for you to be educated to degree level in an engineering qualification and have, or working towards, chartered engineer status. If you don’t have this, however, don’t let this put you off your application, we would consider your application without.

Competitive Salary & Benefits


The salary range is between £34,951 - £63,319, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Company Agreement.  The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent of your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.  You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, incremental and competency-based progression and a Company pension scheme.
