Outage Quality Engineer

We are looking for an individual to drive quality arrangements in our execution of shut down maintenance work across Torness Power station.

 

​​The opportunity

 

As the Outage Quality Engineer, you will be a key member of the strategic planning department working on the safe, quality, timely and within budget delivery of the stations shut down maintenance periods.

 

Working closely with the outage group head and stakeholders across the station, you will be responsible for developing and implementing outage quality strategies and supporting areas with specific quality arrangements. You will also support the development of the outage risk log and implementation of risk mitigation.

During the outage execution, you will monitor quality arrangements performing Quality surveillances working in partnership with those at the sharp end to ensure work is executed to the correct quality, first time.

A calm and measured approach is required when working in a high-pressure situation with competing demands.

We can offer a competitive salary with a range of £40,069- £71,779; with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing

Working with the existing onsite quality team you will help develop the overall quality strategy for outages and other maintenance periods as required. Duties within this include the following:

  • Supporting specific outage areas with identification of tasks and jobs that require enhanced quality arrangements. 
  • Support the development of quality plans and other quality arrangements with relevant maintenance, engineering, supply chain and contract partners.
  • Representing the strategic planning department at relevant quality forums and be the main outage point of contact of station quality staff and contract partners quality teams for outage.
  • Collaborate with station and contract partner teams to drive quality an all outage tasks
  • Set up and run a team carrying out quality control surveillances during work execution.
  • Report quality issues to department group heads, strategic planning manager or through other forums as required.
  • Work with the outage coordinators on outage and maintenance period risk identification and mitigation.

Who you are

To be successful for this role, you will need to have a formal qualification in a technical or quality management subject to HNC or equivalent.

  • You will have hands on experience of quality maintenance activates in a QA/QC role or a technical role.
  • You will be able to influence others to focus on quality as a key issue alongside safety
  • Experience of coordinating across different teams or with different contractors.
  • Ability to multitask and organise your time effectively
  • Experience effectively presenting information to different levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with project risk management would be an advantage
