Contract Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Contract Manager to join our Supply Chain Team at Torness Power Station, managing circa £30m per annum. This pivotal role will involve working with a combination of key partners, suppliers and stakeholders responsible for delivering statutory outage, core works and investment delivery activities to maintain the station. 

 

The Opportunity

 

The UK nuclear market is experiencing substantial change with new competitors, changing technology and demanding clients. Working within this market, Torness is also developing at pace, with its current plans to extend operating life and transition into operating the asset in its defueling/deconstruction stages.

 

In your role, you’ll work at the centre of these current and future developments, liaising closely with the Contract Lead and Commercial Group Head and holding responsibility for managing major contracts. You’ll be expected to demonstrate commercial leadership, pace and rigour whilst driving delivery in contract performance. This will mean engaging closely with Outage Management, Engineering, Procurement and Quality Assurance teams to develop relationships with suppliers, identifying commercial opportunities and service improvements.

 

With an array of significant long-term prospects in this role, there is a real opportunity to take ownership of these agreements and to deliver exceptional service to our internal and external customers now and beyond.

 

Pay, Benefits and Culture

 

The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069 - £84,892 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £40,069 - £71,779 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications, although. This is a full-time, predominantly site-based position.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Key duties as a Contract Manager will include:

  • Managing the performance of key contractors in accordance with the relevant contract requirements and business operational needs, to ensure best value and services from suppliers are achieved in terms of cost, quality and productivity
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders and communicating relevant contractual information as required
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities and improvements for commercial efficiencies across operational activities and contracts
  • Leading on contract negotiations
  • Resolve contract-related issues through dispute resolution processes
  • Ensuring that all processes followed are in line with legislation and company policies
  • Completing contract close-out, reviewing contracts for extension or renewal and assisting procurement teams where applicable for re-procurement.

 

Who You Are

 

What you should bring to the role:

  • HNC or equivalent in a business or commercial discipline
  • Substantial contract management experience
  • Experience in working with a main contractor
  • Experience in financial control including cost control and other processes would be beneficial
  • Ability to deliver information and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Strong MS office skills, ability to work to deadlines and highly organised
  • SAP experience preferred but not essential
  • Experience of NEC Contracts would be beneficial.
