Commercial Analyst



We are looking for a commercially astute individual who is keen to make a difference to the ongoing commercial performance of our busy Torness power station. 


The role of Commercial Analyst sits within the finance team and requires close liaison with internal stakeholders across the business providing effective financial planning and reporting service to the Station management team.


If you have a good understanding of business planning processes, forecasting & Commodity variable/costings then this could be the role for you!


Torness power station plans to be generating power until at least 2028 when it will enter the defueling and ultimately decommissioning stages life cycle. We are therefore keen to recruit talent into our teams where you can help shape the exciting vision for the future of Nuclear generation

We can offer a competitive salary with a range of £36,175- £65,536; with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing


As part of this role, day to day responsibilities will include:


  • Relaying information regarding changes to station output and its implications on business planning.
  • Supporting department managers and budget holders with the financial management and control of their budgets.
  • Preparing monthly financial accounts and full year forecasts.
  • Providing variance analysis from budgets and forecasts, identifying any value-adding opportunities from trend analysis and providing commentary to assist with forecasting and budgetary requirements.
  • Assisting with audit preparation work to enable timely completion of financial statements.
  • Managing investment portfolio of business
  • Forecasting and production of future year budgets 


Who you are


You will be an excellent communicator, comfortable with liaising at all levels of the organisation, along with the confidence to propose new ideas and challenge others. 

As part of this role you will require the following skills or experience: 


  • As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) Candidates with a relevant degree or accountancy qualification may have an advantage. Proven experience in delivering high quality information to deadlines.
  • Computer literate with advanced level Microsoft Excel skills
  • SAP/Oracle knowledge would be advantageous
