Are you a qualified engineer? Do you have knowledge and experience with EPR design and engineering processes? Are you looking to develop your expertise and build experience in the exciting and challenging environment of nuclear new build?

If so, join us as a Technical Governance Coordination Lead and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As a Technical Governance Coordination Lead, you will oversee and drive the technical decision-making process, ensuring compliance with HPC project organisation. In this role you will be participating in the arbitration and prioritisation of technical topics, coordinating stakeholders for consensus, and supporting teams in preparing materials for technical committees.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary between £60,000 to £70,000 (Grade C), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

This is a pivotal role in leading and managing the technical decision-making process within our HPC project organisation. In this role, you will ensure that all technical decisions are aligned with project objectives and strategies.

You will actively participate in the arbitration and prioritisation of technical issues, working to ensure that resolutions are effective and practical. Collaborating closely with stakeholders across the business, you will secure buy-in and achieve consensus from all relevant parties to support the smooth progression of the project.

Assisting teams in preparing technical topics for presentation to committees such as NIAM, CMB, and CCB. This involves organising logistics, collecting and sharing documentation, and providing expert content guidance to ensure successful outcomes.

You will also play a vital role in organising weekly forums, such as the Nuclear Island Architect Meeting (NIAM), chaired by the Edvance HPC Technical Director. These forums facilitate multi-disciplinary discussions and drive the resolution of complex issues.

To ensure efficiency, you will document and track decisions in a timely and accurate manner, providing transparency and accountability. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for improvement in current working practices and implement these enhancements where appropriate.

Based on project requirements, you will either coordinate or lead specific technical topics, leveraging your expertise to drive success in a collaborative environment.

Who you are

We are seeking a highly qualified professional with a strong background in engineering, leadership, or project management. A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with EPR design and engineering processes are crucial. A solid understanding of UK laws, regulations, and nuclear industry standards is also required to meet the demands of this position.

You will have a demonstrated ability to understand complex technical topics and produce clear, accurate summaries. Experience in cross-functional technical coordination is a key requirement to ensure effective collaboration across diverse teams. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to foster trust and effective communication will be vital to the role.

Be committed to achieving and upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. This dedication will be instrumental in ensuring the success and integrity of our projects.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
