The Opportunity

 

Edvance is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC established in 2018. Edvance UK is the UK branch of Edvance SAS and is currently dedicated to the design of BNI for Hinkley Point C (and preparations for Sizewell C).

 

We are based in a newly refurbished, modern office on Aztec West in Bristol. There are over 300 of us here and we’re proud that it can feel like a big multi-cultural family - we have 40 different nationalities.

 

The Configuration Engineer ensures the design maturity of systems by providing support to system engineers based in Edvance Bristol (WIT Integrated Team) for the UK HPC EPR project.
 

The Person

 

The configuration engineer is responsible for or assist with several of the below listed activities depending on the job/project requirements and the job holder’s competences and experience:

 

Technical Configuration:
The configuration engineer supports the system engineers by piloting and coordinating the technical aspects of the Configuration (Design changes/Open points/Interfaces/Non-conformance reports) between the different internal and external stakeholders ensuring a consistent and optimised design for the Project. He works with the system engineers to ensure that system design maturity is assessed and properly communicated when system documents are handed over to external stakeholders (contract). He also works in close collaboration with the deputy building manager.

 

Coordination of cross-functional technical issues:
•    Ensures the resolution of various cross-functional technical issues on systems by coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders.
•    Participates where necessary in coordination meetings organised by the various parties involved in the project (modification committee, project decision meeting, etc.)
•    Presents and shares progress
Other activities:
•    Takes part in the management of experience feedback from previous projects on systems
•    Reports to the team manager on his/her activity

 

Depending on the workload, the configuration engineer may also be in charge of some deliverables (mechanical design) on systems to support the system engineers
 

The Skills

 

Essential:
• Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of nuclear fluid system design, calculation and modelling
• Knowledge of PWR or AGR power station design and system
• Knowledge of system design activities and system design sequence on a nuclear project

 

Desirable:
• Knowledge of EPR design principles and Safety Classification
• Experience of performing design work on UK nuclear facilities
• Ability to speak and write technical documents in French
• Familiarity with Human Performance techniques
• Experience of working on an operating plant or on an industrial site
• Experience on large projects
Language(s): English, French advantageous

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally
• Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France
• Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project
