The Opportunity


This Supply Chain Relationship Manager (Commercial Manager) role is within the Client Function part of the Supply Chain Directorate, which is tasked with providing overall strategic support to the HPC Programme on behalf of the commercial directorate.  This position, therefore, is not responsible for providing traditional commercial/procurement management on a day-to-day basis but is focused instead on driving the overall delivery of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) across the project. The Supplier Relationship Management team is a small, dynamic, and relatively new team, still in the process of establishing itself.  The team is looking for a driven and strategic individual to help transition the Supplier Relationship Owner (SRO) Pilot into business as usual as well as onboard additional strategic suppliers onto the programme, ensuring that the strong foundation that has already been built, is expanded, and enhanced.  


As a Supply Chain Relationship Manager, you will take accountability for overall management and further development of the Supplier Relationship Owner network and associated reporting.  You will be empowered to make decisions associated with the Principle Accountability areas, under the overall guidance of the above and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.
You will be the primary point of contact on the Supplier Relationship Owner services assigned to them and will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within HPC to ensure that the SRM services and their impact upon the overall HPC Project are successfully delivered. 

The Person


The key duties that you will be required to carry out are:


•    Providing strategic support to the development of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) capability for Hinkley Point C
•    Overall programme management and delivery of the SRO Pilot and Network
•    Day-to-day management of support staff involved in the SRO (Supplier Relationship Owner) Pilot and Network (including the overall management of the SRO Network)
•    Facilitation of all associated meetings and workshops (e.g. quarterly SRO Network sessions, Monthly and Quarterly SRO Progress meetings, bi-annual strategy workshops, etc.) 
•    Providing feedback into the SRM Team for all SRO-related progress and actions to ensure alignment with all SRM workstreams
•    Manage reporting on relationship metrics for the strategic suppliers engaged in the SRO Network 
•    Supporting engagement with Sizewell C on lessons learned
•    Seeking out best practice insight to inform future development of the SRM capability
•    Ensuring that all Principal Accountabilities are implemented in accordance with HPC Commercial Procedures

The Skills

The successful candidate will be characterised by the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:


•    Supply chain relationship management experience 
•    Knowledge and experience of internal stakeholder engagement across all levels of an organisation
•    Collaborative working mindset and strong communication skills
•    Experience in setting up and managing a network 
•    Educated to degree level 
•    Demonstrated experience implementing improvement initiatives ideally in partnership with supplier(s)
•    Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significance
•    Demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills to command professional respect at all levels
•    Good understanding of contract performance measurement and risk management 
•    Experience working in a regulated environment with a strong safety culture


Desirable knowledge, qualifications and experience:


•    Experience of implementing a formal SRM programme in a nuclear/infrastructure environment  
•    Effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies
•    An understanding of the UK Nuclear Regulatory Framework
•    Programme/project management experience
•    Track record with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function 
•    CEMAR and/or SAP experience
•    Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy
