Project Manager - Diesels Programme (Sizewell C)

Employment type: Permanent full-time/ part-time.


Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full- time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part- time approach where possible.

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. 


Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support with construction to start this year. 


Join the Sizewell C Engineering & Delivery programme as a Project Manager and lead the charge in delivering excellence in our Diesels sub-programme. This dynamic role offers you the opportunity to oversee a delivery team and ensure seamless execution from engineering through to commissioning.


Responsibilities


In this role, you will:


Lead a team of Project Managers and/or a Multidisciplined Delivery Team, driving the delivery of complex systems, structures, and components.


Focus on meticulous planning, budget adherence, risk management, and quality control, while navigating various project interfaces with precision.


Oversee the delivery of the Steam Turbine and Power Transmission projects, ensuring high standards of engineering, construction, and commissioning.

 

Who You Are


We’re looking for hands-on project professionals with a solid track record in strategic management and major project delivery, particularly within the scopes of heavy diesel equipment, rotating plant, turbines, submarines, or conventional island power plants.


Your technical expertise will enable you to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences within large-scale projects. You should have demonstrated success in engineering design, contract execution, cost control, and risk management, along with proficiency in Earned Value tools and handling commercial claims.


Essential Skills and Experience


•    Proven expertise across the project lifecycle, from engineering to commissioning.
•    Strong commercial acumen for negotiating and managing large-scale contracts.
•    Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
•    Leadership experience in stakeholder engagement and team management.
•    A degree in engineering, construction, or a related field.
•    Professional qualifications like MIMechE, MICE, MCIOB, or APM PPQ are desirable but not mandatory.
•    Knowledge of CDM Regulations, nuclear quality standards, and quality assurance approaches is beneficial.
