The Opportunity

We are currently looking to recruit a Nuclear Quality & Safety Manager to join Edvance which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC established in 2018 in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing, and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. Spearhead of the French nuclear industry, it aims through its objectives and challenges of economic competitiveness and performance, to position itself sustainably in nuclear markets internationally and those of the renewal of the French fleet.
As a Nuclear Safety & Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Nuclear Safety (Culture), Health & Safety requirements, and the implementation and monitoring of Edvance’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in the Edvance UK organization. 


This is an excellent opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team position and report directly to the Director of Edvance UK on Nuclear Safety Culture, Quality, and the Integrated Management System, Health & Safety, along with Training. 
Key stakeholders for this role will be within Aztec West, France, HPC Site & Barnwood, and as such you will be required to travel to these locations.


The Person

As Nuclear Safety & Quality Manager your key accountabilities will be:


Nuclear Safety: 

•    Manage and oversee independent safety reviews
•    Provide nuclear safety culture-related information and advice to engineering teams
•    Delivery of nuclear safety culture-related training development 
•    Implement, promote and reinforce a strong Nuclear Safety Culture 
•    Lead the Nuclear Professionalism Champions (NPC) Network for Edvance UK and lead the preparation and facilitation of international nuclear safety culture networks and seminars
•    Participate in DACI management activities
•    Hold the role of “FIS” Independent Nuclear Safety Field correspondent for Edvance UK 
•    Hold the role of Ethics & Compliance correspondent for Edvance UK
•    Provide oversight of safety categorization activities for Edvance UK
•    Develop and maintain links with EDF Energy about nuclear safety safety-related 


•    Lead implementation of the IMS in Edvance UK
•    Deliver quality-related training 
•    Implement, promote and reinforce a strong continuous improvement culture defined by Corporate Quality
•    Provide support to auditing and internal control programs (organize, participate in, and follow up from audits) 
•    Manage the non-conformance process for all Edvance UK activities 
•    Participate in EPO Quality management activities 
•    Contribute to overall Edvance activities about quality (e.g. Process Reviews, Management Reviews) 
•    Is the EPO coordinator for some processes on the request of the Corporate Quality Manager 

Health & Safety: 

•    Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are correctly implemented and followed within Edvance UK premises
•    Implement, promote and reinforce a strong Nuclear Safety Culture 
•    Act as sponsor for the Health & Safety Champions network and forum for Edvance UK


•    Take ownership of the New Starter Training (monthly and quarterly) process including implementation of effectiveness reviews
•    Facilitate New Starter Training and manage training records with the support of the business management team
•    Maintain the Training Manual 
•    Develop and implement training standards and expectations


The Skills


To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:



•    Degree Level or equivalent in a relevant subject;
•    Experience in engineering/leadership/project management;
•    Technically credible to subject matter expert level in Nuclear Safety, Health & Safety & Quality;
•    Good understanding of requirements and expectations of UK laws, regulations, nuclear industry operating experience, and best practices;
•    Good knowledge of the nuclear industry, safety culture, and quality standards (ISO, IAEA, WANO);
•    Leadership experience in a highly regulated, technical environment;
•    Excellent communication, organisational, and people engagement skills;
•    Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
•    Exemplary team and pastoral management skills;
•    Ability to set, achieve and maintain high standards of safety and quality;




•    Nuclear New Build, EPR or PWR experience;
•    Working knowledge of the French language;
•    Experience interfacing with regulators.
