At EDF, we’re helping Britain achieve Net Zero, and we’re looking for a Systems & Process Engineering (ITBP) Manager to oversee the delivery of critical design and engineering activities for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear projects. This is an exciting leadership opportunity where you’ll guide a talented team to ensure the successful design and construction of nuclear power stations that will provide low-carbon electricity to millions of homes across the UK.
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E), a subsidiary of Edvance, is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project. At HPC, we are building two new nuclear reactors to generate low-carbon electricity for around six million homes. As part of the team, you’ll play a vital role in driving these innovative projects forward.
As the Systems & Process Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design and engineering activities for the Nuclear Island Systems, I&C, Commissioning and Electrical scopes, ensuring their integration and successful delivery throughout the project lifecycle. You will also oversee the multi-discipline teams, which total around 100 people.

What you’ll be doing…
- Overseeing the delivery of safety, quality, schedule, cost, and design maturity for all Systems, I&C, Commissioning and Electrical scopes the integrated team.
- Leading the delivery of post-design and post-delivery activities for the Systems, I&C, Commissioning and Electrical scopes.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day operational management of HPC Nuclear Island Systems, I&C, Commissioning and Electrical scopes.
- Coordinating the transfer of Systems, I&C, Commissioning and Electrical scopes from France/Germany to the UK, ensuring a smooth and well-controlled transition.
- Ensuring timely and quality resolution of technical topics, open points, and issues within the integrated team’s scope.
- Managing the reporting of Risks & Opportunities within the integrated team’s scope.
- Managing interfaces with other integrated teams and internal/external stakeholders.
- Managing a team budget of approximately £25-30m per annum, with a focus on the Project’s Change process.
- Building and leading the team to achieve the delivery of all transverse equipment activities on time, within quality standards, and budget.
- Developing the team’s skills and competencies to ensure ongoing success.
- Contributing to the leadership of the EPR-E Lead Team.
Who you are…
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to set high standards and create a strong safety culture within a regulated, technical environment.
- Experience in senior engineering leadership, ideally within the systems engineering area, would be beneficial.
- In-depth knowledge of EPR design and engineering processes.
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), balancing conflicting priorities while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
- Experience in providing pastoral care and fostering a healthy, supportive line management structure.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive experience in Nuclear New Build, EPR, or PWR projects.
- Strong understanding of UK laws, regulations, and best practices within the nuclear industry.
