The Opportunity


We have an opportunity for you to join our team and contribute to one of the most exciting and challenging construction projects in the country, as we lead the rebirth of Nuclear industry in the UK. We are embarking on the safe construction of two EPR’s at Hinkley Point C (HPC) in Somerset 


This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional with experience of operating OH&S management systems (ISO 45001) to join the HPC Safety and Regulation Directorate. The role is suitable for someone who has a good understanding of ISO 45001 and has experience in developing OH&S management system arrangements and leading internal management system audits. HPC would like to achieve independent 3rd party certification (ISO 45001) for their OH&S management system in 2021. The Management Systems Arrangements Specialist will work with the Industrial Safety and Occupational Health and Safety Teams to facilitate the ongoing operation and improvement of the OH&S management system. The role with also interface with management system specialists in the HPC Quality and Environmental functions to ensure synergy in overlapping requirements (integrated management system).

The Person


Day to Day Responsibilities: 

The key duties that the successful candidate will be required to carry out are:


•    Provide a focal point for the OH&S component of the HPC Integrated Management System;
•    Assist with implementing remaining actions from the ISO 45001 gap analysis;
•    Assist with preparing for the ISO 45001 certification audit and future surveillance audits.
•    Interface with Management System Arrangements Specialists (Environment/Quality) to provide synergy in overlapping management system requirements;
•    Liaise with Project Services team to ensure the IMS platform is suitable for delivering the OH&S arrangements to its intended audience;
•    Manage OH&S internal management system audit schedule and undertake assigned audits;
•    Oversee the implementation and close-out of OH&S process non-conformities and incidents;
•    Coordinate the OH&S management review process by developing the agenda, collating inputs, outputs and following-up on actions;
•    Liaise with HPC Learning and Improvement Team to identify and implement OH&S improvement opportunities;
•    Liaise with the Industrial Safety Team to ensure site based OH&S arrangements are updated and accessible on the intranet platform;
•    Develop and maintain a monthly performance dashboard for the OH&S management system:
•    Maintain OH&S procedures in line with 3-year review cycle and changes in legislation;
•    Represent the OH&S function in Management System Governance Group (MSGG) meetings;
•    Maintain oversight of existing OH&S documented information to ensure continued suitability; 
•    Maintain the OH&S register of legal and other requirements in line with changes to UK legislation;
•    Participate in OH&S wellbeing initiatives led by the Office Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead.

The Skills


The successful candidate will be characterised by the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:


•    Experience in developing and maintaining OH&S management systems, based on ISO 45001:2018 requirements. 
•    Recognised health and safety qualification (NCRQ/NEBOSH) and hold a recognised lead auditor qualification (ISO 45001:2018). 
•    IOSH membership would be advantageous. 
•    Experience of working on major engineering and construction projects.
•    Competent in implementing practical solutions to develop and improve the OH&S management system around the PDCA cycle.

£35,000 -£45,000 per annum & Benefits
