ITB Safety Project and Integration Lead
Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.
Are you an experienced engineer ready to take your career to the next level? Do you have strong leadership skills, along with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities? Are you committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in a dynamic environment? If so, join EDF as a Safety Integration Lead!
The Opportunity
EDF Energy EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) Ltd is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) UK EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.
As the ITB (Integrated Team Bristol) Safety Project & Integration (ITBS-P&I) Lead, you’ll lead the integration of safety requirements into the HPC design and manage all HPC ITB nuclear safety related activities. Your role will focus on ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of safety-related topics while serving as the HPC project delegate for the Safety part of the Safety & Technical Integration (ST) Discipline, which operates a central model covering both HPC & SZC projects. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the HPC project’s objectives for design maturity, stability, and configuration management, as well as addressing the needs of downstream users (Civil/Systems & Process/Equipment).
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a salary from £65,000 to £70,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead the integration of safety requirements into the HPC design, managing technical, quality, and delivery aspects of ITBS activities, including design changes, open points, and data management. Ensuring compliance with configuration management principles, you’ll oversee Post- Design Delivery activities to drive design stability and maturity while aligning safety objectives with annual project goals and adapting the baseline when necessary.
You will be the HPC project delegate for all Safety-related activities, manage the ITBS budget, monitor progress through KPIs and dashboards, and report achievements and challenges to ITB leadership and, where applicable, to the ST Discipline Manager. Working with relevant stakeholders, you’ll identify and mitigate risks, ensure alignment between resources and budget, and promote continuous improvement by sharing best practices for integration and configuration management across ITBx entities and ST Discipline.
In this role, you will also represent ITBS in project forums, governance committees, and key stakeholder engagements with the Safety team in Paris and our Technical Client (HPC). You’ll coordinate team efforts to achieve ITBS configuration management objectives, provide training on integration tools and processes such as the UKDC, and manage contractual interfaces, balancing project priorities with available resources. Close and continuous collaboration with the ST Discipline Manager is required to ensure HPC project needs are met adequately and in good time by the central pool of technical resources within the ST Discipline.
Who you are
You’ll hold an engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant field, coupled with strong leadership skills to drive the resolution of technical challenges across multidisciplinary teams. Your robust knowledge of EPR design and engineering processes, along with a solid understanding of relevant nuclear and environmental UK laws, regulations, and nuclear industry best practices, will be essential for this role.
You’ll excel in setting clear objectives, maintaining high performance standards, and communicating progress effectively to senior stakeholders. You will have exceptional organisational and communication skills and be able to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners, fostering a productive and cohesive working environment.
In this role, you’ll demonstrate a commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality, ensuring all activities align with EDF’s safety culture and project objectives.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
