Engineering Interfaces Engineer

Aztec West, Bristol, Hybrid, minimum of 3 days a week in office.

Do you have a solid engineering background with expertise in system processes and layout? Are you knowledgeable about the nuclear industry or a related field?

If so, join us as an Engineering Interfaces Engineer and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious project within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity…

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

As an Engineering Interfaces Engineer in the PHPC Interface Team, you will collaborate with various teams within the HPC project service, particularly the Technical Directorate, including the Sequence and PMO teams. You will also maintain communication with interface correspondents from entities such as Edvance, CNEPE, DIPNN/DT, DIPNN/DI, NNB, and Framatome.

Pay, benefits and culture…

Alongside a competitive salary between £60,000 to £70,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Collaborating with technical stakeholders (e.g., sequence pilot, macro-activity pilot) to analyse and identify technical interfaces within your scope and contribute to implementing a process for controlling critical interfaces.
  • Managing the technical interface portfolio, facilitating bilateral exchanges between technical entities.
  • Ensuring timely handling of various interface steps as described in INS-305.
  • Overseeing the UK-ICM tool for technical interfaces.
  • Assisting in preparing, planning, and facilitating Strategic Interface Committees, and handle ad-hoc topics related to interfaces.
  • Organising and leading Operational Interface Committees.
  • Developing various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on project needs, particularly for interface monitoring.
  • Contributing to establish the process for managing interfaces with suppliers.
  • Proactively identifying interface requirements.
  • Proposing enhancements to the interfaces process, participating in drafting functional specifications for tools, and monitoring the development of necessary improvements.
  • Integrating systems engineering principles into the "Interfaces" process.

Who you are…

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Extensive engineering experience, particularly with EPR or PWR and nuclear new build projects.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPR design and engineering processes.
  • Project and delivery management experience in highly regulated, technical environments.
  • Working knowledge of the French language desirable.
  • Experience in transverse technical coordination would be beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of UK laws, regulations, and best practices in the nuclear industry.

Closing Date: 28th July 2024
