Do you have a background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering? Are you familiar with working in highly regulated industries and have a proven ability to manage your workload effectively to produce high-quality documentation? If so, come and join EDF as an Electrical System Engineer!
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. What you’ll be doing
You’ll create, review, and update system documentation for control logic, mechanical and thermo-hydraulic design, safety, and testing, ensuring everything follows engineering rules and quality standards. You'll also make sure the Diesel Supplier's design aligns with the power plant’s mechanical, I&C, electrical, and layout requirements.
For I&C, you'll define functional requirements, create diagrams, write test specifications, analyse results, and ensure it matches the supplier’s design. On the mechanical and electrical side, you'll ensure the supplier's design meets requirements and update internal databases. You’ll work with stakeholders across disciplines (like safety, environment, and procurement) to ensure the system meets all needs and contribute to process improvements.
You’ll manage system changes, reviewing modification requests, developing solutions, and using engineering change tools. You’ll also join key meetings, review supplier deliverables like P&IDs and wiring diagrams and help improve processes and quality.
Who you are
You will have strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering, with the ability to manage and deliver high-quality projects on time. You’ll have experience in process and/or I&C engineering, particularly in highly regulated industries like nuclear, oil and gas, or aviation. You’ll bring a wealth of relevant knowledge to the role. Your ability to produce precise documentation while meeting deadlines is essential to ensuring project success.
You’ll be skilled in effective communication, both written and verbal, and confident in engaging with colleagues across various locations, including teams in France and Germany. Your interpersonal skills will help you build positive working relationships across the project, and you’ll proactively collaborate to ensure smooth coordination between teams.
We’re looking for someone with a proactive mindset, continuously seeking opportunities to improve the quality of engineering studies and the documentation produced. You’ll thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and bring a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
