The Opportunity...
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Deputy Manager, you will be assisting the UKMC Team with reviewing procurement and manufacturing specs, procedures, welding books and issuing technical positions on non-conformance reports (NCRs), exemption requests (ERs), technical queries (TQs) that may arise during the manufacturing. You will also support in shop manufacturing performing inspections at the suppliers’ facilities during the manufacturing.

What you’ll be doing…
- Primarily to assist the Manager and Group Leader of the UKMC.
- Perform the operational management of TA services (monthly meetings with partners, monitoring of actions, monitoring of indicators, etc.)
- Achieving managerial validation of the team's technical deliverables.
- Monitoring actions given to the UKMC pilots (assigned with the management), and to challenge the team performance (with the UKMC KPIs).
- Providing support to the UKMC pilots for the assignment of inspection resources (arbitrations if necessary).
- Helping the UKMC manager in preparing the monthly team meetings (updating KPIs dashboard, preparing some topics).
- Ensuring a field presence (with in-shop inspectors) and participating in regular meetings with inspectors and engineers.
- Participating in part of the directorate, technical and transverse meetings and within DI and EPR-e.
- Proposing business development and identifying strategic opportunities.
Who you are…
Your background may include some of the following:
- Previous experience leading or managing a team.
- Knowledge in equipment procurement contracts for nuclear projects (HPC preferably).
- Good technical competencies in mechanical engineering, materials, welding.
- Advanced knowledge in the manufacturing of equipment and in Quality or Surveillance.
- Experience in the management/coordination of contracts for technical assistance
- Ability to prioritise, question and understand the imperatives and to meet commitments to quality and schedule,
- Ability to remain focused under pressure.
