Data Control Lead

Aztec West, Bristol. Hybrid, flexible working arrangements to be discussed.

Are you an experienced Data Engineer / Lead that excels at working with colleagues and stakeholders? Are you organised and proactive, with a great attention to detail? Are you looking for a new opportunity on a fast-paced project, where you can really make a difference?

If so, we have the role for you!

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, that when operational will provide low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

We are looking for a Data Control Lead to join our HPC Technical Directorate. The Technical Directorate is responsible for managing the design of the entire plant of Hinkley Point C, ensuring it's done safely and meets quality, schedule, and cost targets.

SWITCH PLM is a system that helps digitise and integrate key processes related to engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for the HPC project. Within this setup, the Configuration Management and Control team oversees the entire configuration management process, handles certain change procedures, and is in charge of gathering engineering data from the design team.

As the Data Control Lead, you will be part of the team that focuses on methods, tools, and data within this configuration management group.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive starting salary (negotiable depending on experience), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

In your role, you will be supporting the Methods, Tools, and Data Manager by overseeing the monitoring and management of source data, ensuring its collection, quality, consistency, and reporting through dashboards and KPIs. You will supervise a small team of Data Stewards to maintain data quality and integrity within the HPC Digital tools.

You will interface with the Responsible Designer to ensure data is correctly provided as per the data transfer protocol, and work with SWITCH to confirm that data is processed and uploaded properly.

Additionally, you will identify new data requirements across multiple stakeholders and request SWITCH to implement any necessary data changes or new requirements.

Who you are

We are looking for an effective communicator with strong presentation skills, able to engage with a variety of stakeholders across the wider business. You are organised and motivated, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

You should have previous experience in line management, in order to support a small team of Data Stewards.

You thrive in an autonomous work environment, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and develop. You are confident in resolving straightforward issues within your technical discipline.

You are also proficient in using Microsoft software and can efficiently manage your work with these tools.

Closing date for applications: 15th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
