Contract Engineering Lead (RMI)

Aztec West, Bristol, Hybrid, minimum 3 days a week in the office. With occasional international travel.

The Opportunity...
 
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

 

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

 

We are looking to recruit for the role of Contract Engineering Lead for RMI (Reflective Metal Insulation).

What you’ll be doing…  
 

  • Continuous surveillance of the RMI supplier’s deliverables. Identify potential challenges arising from the preferred supplier design, risks, and opportunities for optimization, proactively addressing issues to maintain project timelines and objectives. The CEL will also be responsible to ensure the manufacturing of the RMI complies with the RD’s design.
  • Collaborate with the client, NNB, in preparing the documentation package (project requirements, Bill of Materials, design specifications, and compliance standards) for the tender process. This includes defining technical specifications, evaluating supplier proposals, reply to technical queries for the various bidders and facilitating communication between internal and external stakeholders. The RMI CEL will then be in charge of supporting NNB in evaluating bidder proposals and selecting the preferred supplier based on technical merit, cost-effectiveness, and overall project alignment as well as limiting the impact on the RD existing piping design.
  • Configuration management of piping design for the RD scope.
  • Ensure that all design changes adhere to the RD processes and project specifications, mitigating risks associated with operational safety, cost and Schedule impact and efficiency.
  • To lead a team of 2 configuration engineers to assess the impact of Design Open Points and Design Changes impacting the piping contracts (Execution Design, Procurement, manufacturing and RMI)



Who you are…
 

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in Piping Design in the Nuclear industry
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
  • Excellent knowledge of the sequences of a piping system's design (Basic design, Detailed design, and Execution Design) and the different disciplines involved.
  • Analytical minded and oral expression skills,

 

Your background may include some of the following:
 

  • Knowledge of the RCC-M code / ASME / EN standards
  • Experience with design context and regulatory processes in the United Kingdom.
  • French speaking advantageous
