Salary: around £55,000 per annum & Benefits.

The Opportunity


Edvance is responsible designer for the HPC Nuclear Island (and integrator of the Nuclear Island, Conventional Island and Balance of Plant scopes) and plays a key role in managing the overall Hinkley Point C (HPC) configuration on behalf of the client. We are currently looking to recruit a Configuration Manager to provide a high-quality enactment of the Edvance configuration management processes for its scope of design, whilst offering an opportunity for growth as the organisation evolves over the coming years.


For any large project such as HPC, the management of the design configuration is required to be well controlled and monitored; to ensure a safe, compliant and consistent design. The HPC project relies on robust configuration management processes to ensure the design is produced in accordance with its requirements, that the different engineering workstreams are well integrated and produce consistent outputs, and that changes to requirements or design are managed in a controlled manner.

The Role


Your main accountabilities and responsibilities will be to oversee and manage the day to day configuration management of the Edvance scope of design managed in the UK:


•    Is the main Design Change approver for the design.
•    Is the main link with the process owners in HPC Project and Edvance (Paris).
•    Advises on and ensures compliance with the design change management governance.
•    Is the main link with the HPC project for Design Change Approval and Nuclear Regulatory and Environmental Agency Compliance (License Condition 20 for example).
•    Escalates issues to the relevant meeting, committee or stakeholders.
•    Oversees the design assumptions and interfaces between workstreams.
•    As far as possible challenges the engineering teams to justify that the design is acceptable without change.
•    Supports the engineering teams to open, specify and implement design changes.
•    Monitors implementation of design changes in line with the relevant engineering milestones.
•    Coordinates with the building and systems teams to ensure overall consistency between disciplines
•    Provides oversight and alignment between the technical scope of design changes and the commercial impacts / budget.


In addition to your main accountabilities, you will have a strong technical authority to both challenge and support the various engineering teams to propose proportionate solutions to technical issues, utilising your own experienced engineering judgement where necessary.  You will be placed in a position of leadership within the Edvance UK organisation, and as such will be expected to lead by example and influence the right behaviours within the teams, with design maturity and stability being the main focus. You will be expected to engage proactively with all project stakeholders to manage and mitigate the most significant design issues in advance of design delivery milestones.

The Skills



•    Engineer with several years of experience in one or several engineering disciplines which can include nuclear safety, electrical, mechanical, systems, civil, layout, etc. 
•    An interest in various engineering disciplines and ability to learn new skills quickly
•    Experience in using configuration and change management systems on previous projects
•    Detail oriented, while maintaining a project delivery focus
•    Experience in problem solving, while taking decisions that consider all implications 
•    Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders as necessary. 




•    Previous experience on the HPC/EPR/nuclear projects, or equivalent major projects
