Are you an expert at adapting commissioning strategies to meet the unique challenges of high-profile, complex projects? Do you have experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and delivering systems with safety and efficiency? Can you troubleshoot and implement effective solutions for complex systems to keep project timelines on track?

If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as a Configuration Engineer at Hinkley Point C!

The Opportunity

As a Configuration Engineer, you’ll take a leading role within the Configuration Management Function, a critical player in maintaining the integrity and control of the HPC Nuclear Power Plant design. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring designs are compliant with agreed standards and reflected accurately in the physical installation, known as the "as-built" configuration, directly supporting the timely delivery of the overall project schedule.

In this role, you’ll provide expert engineering support on behalf of the Configuration Management Function within the NNB Technical Directorate. You will ensure the proposed designs meet rigorous professional standards and comply fully with UK regulations. This position requires advanced technical and organisational skills, along with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive project success.

Pay, Benefits, and Culture

Alongside a salary range of £62,000 - £72,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Configuration Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Configuration Management Function by coordinating activities and ensuring alignment within the Configuration Management framework. You’ll play a key role in managing configuration, ensuring transparency on issues across the project, and continuously enhancing processes to improve efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and govern Open Points, Design Changes, and Contract Instructions in collaboration with the Responsible Designer.
  • Partner with the Engineering Design Team to ensure all Design Changes receive comprehensive stakeholder approval.
  • Monitor Technical Releases, Quality Exemptions, and End of Erection Status Reporting to maintain project integrity.
  • Utilise digital tools such as SWITCH, Teamcenter, and Asset Suite 9 to prepare detailed status reports for the Configuration Control Boards and Control Towers.
  • Work with Area and Sub-Area Teams to provide clear Configuration Management updates on Design Requirements, Configuration Information, and Physical Configuration Status, identifying risks for Area Delivery Managers.
  • Champion process enhancements to meet end-to-end configuration goals.
  • Lead Configuration Management audits to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with DMIC Contractors to optimise Configuration Management arrangements.

You should have experience in process development, a deep understanding of quality and engineering requirements, and a track record of delivering within complex projects. Strong decision-making abilities, excellent organisational skills, and an ability to influence and communicate across all levels of an organisation will be essential to your success.
