EDF and Framatome have come together to establish the joint venture Edvance, an EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) company established in 2018 in charge of the design and realisation of nuclear islands for new projects around the world. As the leading business of the French nuclear industry, it aims through its objectives and challenges of economic competitiveness and performance, to position itself sustainably in nuclear markets internationally and those of the renewal of the French fleet. 


Edvance UK is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI (Nuclear Island) buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C project.

 

As the Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and production of the electrical commissioning procedures and guidelines in accordance with Edvance’s deliverables, in support of the Nuclear Island (NI) at Hinkley Point C. The role will eventually transition into the Joint Design Office (JDO) based on site at HPC. 

The Person

 

As the Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and production of the electrical commissioning procedures and guidelines in accordance with Edvance’s deliverables, in support of the Nuclear Island (NI) at Hinkley Point C. The role will eventually transition into the Joint Design Office (JDO) based on site at HPC. 


Reporting to the discipline Lead, you will take account of the preparation, delivery, monitoring and close out phases of electrical commissioning, with the following main responsibilities: 


•    Produce commissioning documentation and ensure input data is configured and up to date
•    Identify, record and mitigate potential risks
•    Produce commissioning deliverables in compliance with Edvance engineering procedures, considering lessons learned from other projects
•    Survey commissioning deliverables with respect to project standards
•    Steer and assess electrical system function tests 
•    Report progress towards initial time schedule & budget
•    Issue function test reports outlining the expected electrical function test coverage
•    Frequent travel to France for technical meetings with I&C test team

The Skills

 

You will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:


•    Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
•    Knowledge and experience of electrical engineering and commissioning within nuclear, or a similar heavily- regulated industry i.e. energy, oil & gas, public sector works, etc
•    Experience with lv, hv and 10kv power supply systems  
•    Understanding and familiarity of working with I&C logic diagrams
•    Capability of coordinating technical topics within several engineering disciplines (mechanical/HVAC, electrical, I&C) and contractors
•    Experience of drafting test procedures and test coverage substantiation files
•    Driving delivery of tasks within agreed timescales
•    Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with team members and partners
