The Opportunity


Edvance is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC established in 2018. Edvance UK is the UK branch of Edvance SAS and is currently dedicated to the design of BNI for Hinkley Point C (and preparations for Sizewell C).


We are based in a newly refurbished, modern office on Aztec West in Bristol. There are over 300 of us here and we’re proud that it can feel like a big multi-cultural family - we have 40 different nationalities.


The building civil pilot reports to the Building manager. They are in charge of performing and monitoring civil engineering studies dedicated to his building. They coordinate the activity of other civil engineers and CAD civil designers, manage the input data and the civil changes and are involved in the civil reviews.

The Person


Civil Engineering
•    Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of the input data.
•    Produce the deliverables for which they are responsible (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes).
•    Coordinate the work of CAD Designer in conjunction with the Design Office Manager.
•    Perform design activities for fastenings in concrete.
•    Perform or coordinate technical verifications of civil engineering documents for their building.


Progress monitoring and change management
•    Prepare and chair progress meetings within their scope of activity (internal or external).
•    Manage and monitor the modifications requested by the various engineering teams.
•    Anticipate and raise alerts on open technical points.
•    Support in the monitoring of the main civil engineering and equipment contracts
•    Make the necessary clarifications to the documents within Edvance UK’s scope.
•    Contribute to surveillance of civil execution drawings
•    Contribute to surveillance of the anchorages designed by the equipment suppliers
•    Provide support in dealing with the non-conformity and adaptation reports issued by the contractor and relays the modifications to the design office.


•    Manage a small team of civil engineer.

The Skills


•    5+ years experience in civil engineering. 
•    Design office experience.
•    Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations.
•    Experience in the nuclear sector is desirable.
•    Experience in plant layout engineering.
•    Knowledge/understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings in concrete.
•    Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures. 
•    Knowledge of the design of steelwork structures.
•    Management of stakeholder.
•    Management of engineering activities.
•    Fluent English and French desirable.
