Civil Contract Manager

Location: Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.

The Opportunity

 

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As a Civil Contract Manager will be responsible for the management of one or multiple civil engineering design contracts for SZC project, for ensuring that the technical specifications are adhered to by the contract holder.

You will report to the SZC Civil Team lead and liaise with various contributors internally and externally including civil engineers, scheduling and cost control teams, your associated contract holder, the Responsible Designer’s Project Management Office (PMO), the procurement department and potentially the legal teams, as well as different entities from the client organisation.

What you’ll be doing

 

The Civil Contract Manager’s primary responsibilities include project management, reporting, risk management, stakeholder engagement, contract audits, and sharing the lessons learned throughout the process.

You will ensure contract specifications are adhered to by contract holders, oversee the technical surveillance of contract holder studies, establish surveillance programmes and annual reports, resolve technical queries, organise and run weekly and monthly progress meetings. You will also work to improve contract tools, lead contractual discussions, and prepare, review, and analyse Early Warnings and Compensation Events, in addition to reviewing and validating monthly payment applications. Reporting duties include preparing and delivering financial and progress reports. As part of your risk management duties, you will maintain the risk register of the contracts. Stakeholder management involves liaising with different entities from the client organisation. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting quality and financial audits of the contract holder, and recording and sharing the lessons that have been learnt from both current activities and previous projects, for the benefit of others on the project.

 

Who you are

 

You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, along with practical experience in contract management and a solid understanding of contract regulations and relevant laws. You have a technical background as a Civil Engineer, and you have a working experience on structural analysis. You possess strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously. You have a solid understanding of legal terminology, are comfortable working within a multidimensional team, have a keen attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills. You are also capable of handling confidential information with professionalism and exhibit creative problem-solving abilities. Fluency in English is mandatory.
