Cable Routing Coordination Lead
Bristol (minimum 3 days in the office)
Do you have cable routing experience within a nuclear context? Do you have knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine? Do you have experience dealing with various stakeholders? Do you speak English and French fluently?
If so, come and join EDF as a Cable Routing Coordination Lead.
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.
For the HPC/SZC project, we are looking to recruit for the role of Cable Routing Coordination Lead.

What you’ll be doing
The Cable Routing Coordination Lead is an electrical engineer with a strong experience in cable routing activities. You will be in charge of providing operational management of a small team of routing engineers to support the production of deliverables following the project schedule.
You will interface with several disciplines (layout, hazard, electrical systems...) to resolve blocking issues while making sure that routing solutions satisfy the project engineering rules and applicable electrical standards.
Your regular activities will include:
- Produce, review and optimise the routing reports by ensuring that the deliverables comply with the project criterions regarding the UK cabling rules, the electrical installation regulations and the hazard specifications,
- Follow the weekly operational team production according to the schedule to meet the project deadlines and milestones, report to the management any challenge, set action plan to stay in line with the schedule objectives,
- Prepare, organise the technical review of the routing documentations prior official release to the client, and lead meetings for reporting on the progress of the routing studies internally to EPRe and with our client organisation,
- Use an optimised in-house routing software, contribute to improving its performance through user feedback, anomaly reporting, and improvement proposals. Provide training and mentoring to the operational team to make sure the competencies are set and maintained,
- Analyse the open points and design changes impacting the routing production, identify the associated risks, set the remedial works for the routing,
- Participate in experience sharing activities (OPerational EXperience shared from/with other projects assessing any possible integration for HPC).
Depending on the progress of Hinkley Point C project, you may also contribute to Sizewell C replication activities to optimise the SZC project cabling sequence.
The Cable Routing Coordination Lead is supported by other electrical routing engineers as well as a senior expert. They report to the Cabling and Routing Group Lead on an operational and to the System & Electrical Discipline Manager on a functional level.
This position is within our Bristol Engineering back office and might require some business trips to Europe (France mainly), 2 or 3 times a quarter, as well as HPC site regular visits to interface with our Front Office colleagues.
Who you are
You have a Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent field, coupled with a solid industry experience. You demonstrate proven expertise in cabling routing activities within a nuclear context. You show strong interpersonal skills, you are conscientious and organised, and have excellent writing skills. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is crucial for producing documentation, coordinating activities, and interfacing with various stakeholders.
Additional desirable qualifications include relevant industry experience, knowledge of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) design and sequencing for EPR systems, and a background in creating design documentation compliant with a Quality Management System. Experience managing cross-disciplinary technical topics, the ability to prioritise tasks, handle multiple interfaces, and understand downstream discipline requirements are highly valued. A commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering results is essential.
Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is considered highly desirable.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 3rd December 2024
