Building Manager Common Raft

Bristol (Aztec West) at least 3 days in the office and you will be able to work from home the other 2 days. (flexible according to business and personal requirements)  


We are currently looking for a Common Raft Buildings Manager who will be responsible for the overall delivery to safety, quality, schedule and cost requirements for its integrated product; ‘Product’ means a set of buildings, and their associated systems and components. 


This is an opportunity to join Edvance which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC established in 2018 in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. Spearhead of the French nuclear industry, it aims through its objectives and challenges of economic competitiveness and performance, to position itself sustainably in nuclear markets internationally and those of the renewal of the French fleet.


In particular, Edvance is responsible for the design and engineering of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C project and for the design of the EPR2. This role will be mainly responsible for the operational management  the team of around 30 people who are responsible for the design of the product, the integration of the various disciplines contributing to its realisation; as well as the verification of its compliance with the technical and contractual requirements. As such, the common raft buildings manager is responsible for the execution and integration of the engineering activities consistently with the Project Configuration, as well as interfaces (internal and external) to the Product, in liaison with other buildings managers and HPC Integrated Teams.


We are looking for an individual who has previous experience in managing or delivering work on EPR projects common raft buildings,  and a firm understanding of the challenges and complexities of this scope.

What you’ll be doing…


•    Secure the successful and timely transfer of buildings activities from teams based in France and Germany to UK team
•    Be the product architect and have responsibility for the lifecycle, technical completeness and integration of the product;
•    Recognise this is a delivery role, requiring high levels of collaboration, negotiation and project acumen to ensure the overall project is a success;
•    Actively seek to ensure that an appropriate level of quality is achieved for all deliverables within their product to ensure right first time;
•    Produce and maintain a baselined building schedule, and use this to manage and deliver the product to time, while identifying risks and ensuring the integration with the overall project;
•    Negotiate and set their product budget, monitoring the cost of their product team to ensure the successful delivery within cost;
•    Actively manage all change (technical, cost and schedule) and interfaces associated with the product to ensure configuration management and to meet client requirements;
•    Identify, report and then manage all Early Warnings, Compensation Events, Risks & Opportunities (existing, updated, new) for the product to ensure proactive project control and risk mitigation;
•    Undertake effective management of suppliers associated with their product to ensure successful overall project delivery.
