EDF Energy have a new opportunity available for an experienced Quality Management Team Leader to be a part of our HPC Project divided across six delivery programmes. Each delivery programme specifies their quality requirements which in turn are delivered by a team of Quality Management Leads (QMLs). Based at the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre (SDC) in Bridgwater you will form part of the Quality Management Branch and provide quality related services, responsible for acting as the 'Intelligent Customer' in the capacity of ensuring that appropriate quality arrangements are in place and effectively implemented by the supply chain in these programmes. 

As a Team Leader, you will provide first line leadership and oversee the quality assurance and control activities performed by the QMLs. You will ensure QMLs apply proper use and adhere to the appropriate processes and procedures when delivering to the quality requirements set out by the respective programmes. This is a challenging but rewarding role where you will lead a team of QMLs and work in close collaboration with the respective Quality Delivery Managers, contracted inspection agencies (e.g Direction Industrielle), supply chain partners, as well as internal and external regulators. 


The Role

The key duties that you will be required to carry out are:


•    Ensure quality assurance and control arrangements are properly implemented by the QMLs in their defined work portfolio;
•    Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work closely with the Quality Delivery Managers.
•    Provide first line leadership to the QMLs and lead by example to resolve issues effectively and timely.
•    Be responsible for the line management, staff development, duty of care and succession management of the QMLs.


Primary accountability


•    Oversee the implementation of activities that involve the QMLs in the quality execution plan within the Programme 
•    Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of key quality arrangements, as follows:


o    Manage Quality Execution
o    Technical Assessment of Suppliers
o    Conducting Manufacturing Surveillance
o    Modulating Manufacturing Surveillance
o    Management of Manufacturing Non-Conformances
o    Quality Release Certificate Process;


•    Ensure proper flow of formal communication to QMLs through organisation notes and guidelines relevant to the above processes;
•    Ensure proper work management of the QMLs including work planning and monitoring;
•    Monitor and report quality and performance metrics from the QMLs supporting the programmes;
•    Oversee manufacture documentation and in-shop surveillance being carried in accordance with surveillance plans;
•    Oversee the implementation of LTQR reviews and Quality Release of equipment to site;
•    Oversee the delivery of manufacturing surveillance programmes per contract based on a graded approach of equipment safety function and project importance;
•    Ensure QMLs are appropriately trained and experienced for their assigned work portfolio; 
•    Ensure continuous training is planned and implemented to maintain technical competence;
•    Ensure the Quality Management Branch is adequately represented at the Manufacturing Hub;
•    Perform line management duties and set objectives for the QMLs;
•    Ensure resource resilience is well managed to minimise risk to project delivery;
•    Monitor and appraise the performance of QMLs;


The Skills


•    Degree qualified in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification;
•    Proven first line leadership and problem-solving skills in a multi-disciplinary team;
•    Proven experience in leading large teams and with the ability to inspire team members to work as a team and deliver work to a high standard, time and cost;
•    Proven experience in project delivery, preferably in the nuclear power sector, with significant focus on project quality, with a solid understanding of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control in major projects across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning;
•    Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment;
•    Proven track record on influencing and negotiating in technical and non-technical discussions;
•    Ability to present quality matters and solutions to a wide-ranging audience;
•    Ability to work autonomously and support the Quality Management Manager;
•    Excellent organisational and analytical skills; 
•    Excellent technical writing and communication skills;
•    Experience of interfacing with project teams and with supply chain organisations;
•    A team player who recognises how their position impacts and influences others;
•    Pro-active and flexible, being prepared to plan and work on own initiative;
•    Proven experience in interfacing with external regulatory bodies, e.g. ONR.


Desirable knowledge, qualifications and experience:


•    Chartered Member of an appropriate professional institution;
•    Possess a recognised Quality qualification and accreditation; 
•    Commercial exposure, especially supplier management;
•    Knowledge & understanding of nuclear site license conditions;
•    Ability to speak French is advantageous but not necessary;
•    Knowledge of pressure and nuclear codes.
